Stuart Ross, the writer of Forever Plaid came up with the idea of portraying the story of four harmony singing group members who return from afterlife for one final chance of musical glory. The musical premiered on May 20th, 1990 at Steve McGraw’s in New York City. James Raitt provided the vocal arrangements and music direction and Stuart Ross choreographed and directed the play. Right after its premiere, Forever Paid had performance engagements at multiple venues such as The American Stage Company, West Bank Café and the Wisdom Bridge Theater. The show is set in the 50s, when groups like The Four Freshmen and The Four Aces were at the peak of success. Apart from soulful numbers, the musical also has lots of humor and adventure. Due to the show’s interesting plot, a motion picture on the same concept was released in 2009 titled, Forever Paid: The Movie. Those who enjoyed the big screen debut, can now watch the live version of Forever Paid in their very own city. If you like listening to male vocal bands, Forever Paid is the perfect show for you.

Some of the songs that will be heard in the musical are, "Sixteen Tons," "Moments to Remember," "Three Coins in the Fountain" and "Heart and Soul." The cast members who sang these amazing numbers in the original Forever Plaid production included, Stan Chandler as Jinx, Guy Stroman as Frankie, David Engel as Smudge and Jason Graae as Sparky. Once again Forever Plaid is back to entertain new generations of theatergoers and music lovers. The show will leave you laughing, humming and cheering no matter what age group you belong to.

In the past years, a number of theater companies have created their own versions of Forever Plaid. The Pasadena Playhouse and Neptune Theater are known for running the sequel of the same musical called Plaid Tidings with modified story and songs. The Music Theater International has also created a version for high schools titled The Sound of Plaid: Forever Plaid School Version. Forever Plaid has become one of the most popular and successful musicals of recent time. The overall setting of the musical is simple having four microphones, a piano and the bass. From time to time, the four main characters break the fourth wall by talking to the audience, sometimes asking for suggestions and sometimes just for the laughs. On the whole, Forever Paid is a treat to watch as the talented actors take the audience on a fun-filled journey of this ‘deliciously goofy’ revue. All those who want to see how Jinx, Smudge, Sparky and Francis died in a car accident and come back to life to pursue their dreams, must book their tickets in advance.

Forever Paid has currently become a huge name in the theater industry. Not many musicals these days are mainly focused on boy bands. This particular one is, and has executed the concept brilliantly. Critics as well as the audience have all received the musical well. All those who still haven’t seen this one, get your hands on the best Forever Plaid tickets right away.
