Originally from New Zealand, this hilarious duo dubbed themselves "Flight of the Conchords" and was formed by Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. Their comedy is brilliant and their music is strategically composed to punctuate their routine and highlight the climaxes. Winners of a Grammy, Flight of the Conchords also won the title of Best Alternative Comedy Act at the 2005 US Comedy Art Festival and Best Newcomer at the Melbourne Comedy Festival. Flight of the Conchords duo performs a sort of burlesque on contemporary lifestyles. As students of film and theater at Victoria University of Wellington, Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement shared an apartment. Together they performed locally with a group called So You're a Man. The group included the talented Taika Waititi and soon had a cult following in New Zealand and Australia. Bret and Jemaine formed the duo Flight of the Conchords in 1998 and their popularity grew quickly across different continents. A BBC radio show was based on their comedy followed by an American television series premiering in 2007.

Their horror comedy film Diagnosis: Death was released in August 2009. They have toured widely and have received awards such as the Bronze in Comedy (BBC Radio Series) Grammy for the best Comedy album (2007) and four New Zealand Music Awards (2008) including Best Album and International Achievement. Three songs by Flight of the Conchords (Business Time 319, The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room #60 and Hiphopotamus Vs Rhymenocerous #67) made it to the Triple J Hottest 100, 2008.

Flight of the Conchords have enjoyed immense celebrity thanks to their talent and to the promotion they have received via recognition in prestigious places. The dominion Post awarded Clement and McKenzie with the Arts Wellys and gave them the title of 2007 Wellingtonians of the Year. Poniewozik of Time Magazine named the duo among the top five New TV series of 2007, ranking it at number two, Entertainment Weekly ranked them the seventh best show of 2007. Flight of the Conchords made it to the nominee status for two Emmys in 2008 for Best Writing (Comedy series) as well as Best Directing (Comedy series).
