Flatbush Zombies comprises of three members who have known each other since their grade school days. Erick Arc Elliott, Zombie Juice and Meechy Darko are from the Flatbush part of Brooklyn in New York. All three are also of Jamaican descent. It was Elliott who brought them together as a group. He was making his own music as a solo performer and decided it was time they all formed a group in 2010.
The Flatbush Zombies hit the stage for their first ever public performance two years later. They decided to upload a video of the song Thug Waffle on YouTube and it went viral, earning them a lot of attention. It was followed by their debut mixtape “D.R.U.G.S.” which did fairly well. Later in 2012, the band also got the chance of working with Wu Tang Clan when the two groups teamed up to appear on the track Just Blowin’ in the Wind which was the soundtrack of the movie “The Man with the Iron Fists.”
Flatbush Zombies Make Their Mark
That was followed by a collaboration in 2013 with The Underachievers for the track No Religion. In July of the same year, Flatbush Zombies came out with a YouTube video to announce that they will soon be releasing another mixtape. The name of the record was “BetterOffDEAD” and it was released on September 11, 2013 at precisely 9:11 PM. The mixtape did quite well on the critical front and went to the 17th spot on the best mixtapes of 2013 list compiled by XXL.
Then came 2014 and brought along with it a few surprises. In February, they came out with a song LiT and later in an interview with XXL announced that they had scrapped plans to release the EP that was in the pipeline and instead will be releasing a full album in its place.
In September, they joined hands with The Underachievers once again for a tour and the two groups also came out with a song Butterfly Effect. The two bands began to call themselves Clockwork Indigo and then released an EP of the same name on October 17, 2014.
The Debut Studio Album
The album they had expected to release in 2014 fell through but Flatbush Zombies had begun to make their mark. They released a few more tracks in 2015 and then on January 11, 2016, treated the fans to the single Glorious Thugs. The very same day they announced that their debut studio album “3001: A Laced Odyssey” will hit the stores on March 11.
The first single from the record Bounce was released on February 5, 2016 while its video came out three days later. 3001: A Laced Odyssey did quite well on its release. The record debuted at the 10th spot on the US Billboard 200. It also reached number one on the US Independent Albums and at the second position on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
Flatbush Zombies Tour
It has been an exciting ride for the Flatbush Zombies and they will soon release their much awaited second album “Vacation in Hell.” That is however not the only good news for their fans. The band is all set to hit the road for their “See You in Hell Tour” which will kick off with a performance at the legendary Coachella Music Festival. Now that the time has come for them to go on the road, do not miss out on the chance to buy Flatbush Zombies tickets and join them on the ride.
