Fitz And The Tantrums is an American indie pop and neo soul band from Los Angeles that has been active in the American music industry since 2008 and has already taken the US and the world by storm. Its music, released via labels such as Elektra Records and Dangerbird Records, has received much critical and commercial acclaim, so much so that Fitz And The Tantrums tickets for the band’s concerts are often on sale, with the band performing many a concert in the US.
Fitz And The Tantrums is home to some highly talented musicians; lead vocalist and keyboardist Michael Fitzpatrick, vocalist and percussionist Noelle Scaggs, flute, saxophone, harmonic and trumpet player James King, bassist Joseph Kames, keyboardist Jeremy Ruzumna and drummer John Wicks. The band’s producer is Chris Seefried, who is also a co–songwriter in many of their songs. The band released its first album in 2010, titled Pickin’ Up the Pieces. It received a lot of critical and commercial acclaim, topping the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and ranked by Rolling Stone magazine as a band to watch.
Having performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Conan, Fitz And The Tantrums has come a long way from modest beginnings. Founded in 2008 by lead singer Michael Fitzpatrick, he brought together a number of musicians with all of them immediately syncing with each other. Their first show was performed at the Hotel Café in Hollywood, in December of the same year. In 2009, the band continued performing live music, playing at such notable Los Angeles venues as Spaceland and the Viper Room. They also began recording their first EP, which was released in mid–2009 via Canyon productions.
Their music started receiving a lot of airplay in Los Angeles radio, chiefly on the KCRW radio station. Later in 2009, they toured with Flogging Molly and Hepcat. A month later, they opened up for Maroon 5 in their Back to School Tour. This particular performance was a miracle in itself. K’naan had initially been slated to open for Maroon 5 but could not due to fatigue. Incidentally, Adam Levine was getting a tattoo in New York City from his favorite tattoo artist, who had downloaded the band’s songs after hearing them on the KCRW channel, and who went on to recommend the band to Adam Levine.
A week later and the band was opening up for Maroon 5. By the end of 2009, the band had also shot their first music video. In 2010, they played at the SXSW Festival in the KCRW’s Official Showcases. They then opened up for The Specials during their famous reunion tour. In 2010, after being signed onto Dangerbird Records, their first album was released, titled Pickin’ Up the Pieces. They also performed on Daryl Hall’s Live from Daryl’s House. Daryl Hall is best known as one half of the famous Hall & Oates.
In 2011, they went on a US tour and an international tour with April Smith & the Great Picture Show. In 2012, they performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, aired on NBC, and performed a free concert at the Thursday at the Square in Buffalo. They also performed at the Basilica Block Party in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Their songs have been used in a number of skateboard videos, by Mike Mo Capaldi and Trent McClung.
One of their songs, News 4 U, has been used in the TV series, Desperate Housewives. Their songs have also been used in NHL TV shows and the soundtrack of FIFA 13. They are set to release a new LP in 2013, right around the time when the band is gearing up for a number of new concerts, for which Fitz And The Tantrums tickets are on sale. They are influence heavily by the sounds of Staxrecord and Motown acts and have been praised for their music by the likes of the Los Angeles Times with Vogue Daily labeling them the Hardest Working Band in the 2011 summer festival circuit. The songs have charted high on many charts, with one of their albums ranking first on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart.
Fitz and The Tantrums is an American Indie pop/soul band. The members include Michael Fitzpatrick, Noelle Scaggs, James King, Joseph Karnes, Jeremy Ruzumna and John Wicks. Fitz and The Tantrums tickets gives you a chance to witness the live performance that presents a modern adaptation of the classic soul indie pop ‘Motown sound’ of the 1960s.
Unlike other music bands that usually go through a long search process to discover its apt combination of talents, the Tantrums were formed in a moment of spontaneity. This was when lead vocalist Michael Fitzpatrick bought himself an old electronic organ and was keen on composing a song the very same night. He contacted his old friend James King to help him with the musicians for the making of the song. Thus, in matter of few calls and one rehearsal, the Tantrums were all set to perform.
The band’s first performance was at Hotel Café in Hollywood in 2008. Soon they became a popular name amongst various well known LA clubs such as Viper Room and Spaceland. From a hit live show band, they soon made their way into the recording studios and released their first album by the name ‘Picking up the Pieces’ in 2010. What sets their music apart is that their melodies are largely created through the use of a vintage organ, sax and piano. They do not make use of the guitar which is regarded as an essential instrument amongst contemporary music bands.
The band which initially rose to fame via the popularity of their live acts is all set to embark upon the widely awaited Fitz and The Tantrums tour. So save yourself a place in the Fitz and The Tantrums concert and join the band to witness a 21st century modern version of the classic 60s indie pop beats.
