The concert series presents the work of renowned music producer "Nobuo Uematsu", responsible for creating award winning music for several video games in the franchise. This season, Distant Worlds in collaboration with "Square Enix" will be bringing another string of live concerts to the US venues and orchestra halls. The first concert premiered in Japan in 2002. The show, branded "20020220 Music From Final Fantasy", was held at 'Tokyo International Forum'. The music was arranged by the original composer Nobuo Uemsatsu himself along with "Masashi Hamauzu" and "Shiro Hamaguchi". "Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra" staged the music under the acclaimed conductor "Taizou Takemoto". The Orchestra played for almost two hours, covering a range of songs and music from the original game series. The concert was a hit amongst the fans as well as critics. The entire concert was recorded and released on an album that was again well received by both critics and series fans. The success of the show spawned a multi-city tour "Tour de Japan" across Japan. The tour was spread around six cities comprising of seven concerts. The following year, the first international concert tour was brought to the US stages. The US tour branded as "Dear Friends" was led by the music director "Arnie Roth". In 2006, another "Voices" tour was conducted all over Japan, again under the direction of Arnie. In 2007, the concert was showcased for the first time in Sweden. This marked the beginning of Distant Worlds tours that continue to tour internationally every season.
This year, Arnie and Nobuo will once again collaborate under the Distant Worlds Tour umbrella to produce another string of enthralling live concerts. The award-winning musician Arnie has worked with numerous intentionally recognized artists and organizations. He has worked on a range of musical genres such as rock, R&B, classical and pop music. Arnie has also conducted various orchestras including "WDR Rundfunkorchester Koln", "Sydney Symphony", "San Francisco Symphony", "Royal Stockholm Philharmonic" and "London Symphony". He has received numerous accolades and honors throughout his career including a Grammy Award and a DVD Premier Award for "Best Score". On the other hand, Nobuo Uematsu has also collaborated with award winning musicians and artists from around the world. Born in 1959, Nobuo, a self-taught musician, is currently ranked as one of the most famous and successful musicians in the gaming industry. Some of his other compositions for games, anime, films and TV series include "Play For Japan", "Guin Saga", "Blue Dragon", "Ah! My Goddess: The Movie", "Phantasmagoria", "The Last Story", "Lord of Arcana", "Sakura Note", "Chrono Trigger", "Kings Knight" and "Rad Racer".
Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy will be celebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the multi-million dollar franchise throughout North America this year.
