Felix was born on the 27th of August, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. From an early age, he had an interest in the emerging House music scene. He finally got his break at fifteen years of age. At the time, he was studying at Rich East High School. He was introduced to DJ Pierre, who guided him in releasing his first album Phantasy Girl in 1987. His parents however, did not approve of the club scene, and discouraged him to pursue it. He abandoned house music and got admission in Alabama State University in 1987. His major was media and communication and and while in university, he also studied music side by side. He developed a liking for R&B and hip hop songs and studied music such as Prince, Gang Starr, and A Tribe Called Quest.
He decided to go back to House music after a few years, and with DJ Pierre's help and guidance once again, he started to remix and produce music again. He produced a hit song with Guerilla Records in 1992 called Thee Dawn. He gained popularity especially in Europe and produced two new singles the next year, Thee Industry Made Me Do It and By Dawn's Early Light. These singles were a hit and put him under the spotlight. He made a collaboration of the classic song Phantasy Girl with DJ Pierre, and it was the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the teacher and the student. In the 1990s, DJ Pierre and Felix contributed in pioneering the wild pitch, working on songs such as Thee Dawn.
In the 1990s, Felix released a track called In the Dark We Live (Thee Lite). The song was released under his alias Aphrohead. This turned out to be one of the most special moments of the decade for Felix. The song belonged to Bush, which was a UK recording company. The song was then released in the United States, after it was given a license by Emotive Records, which was a record company in New York. Junior Vasquez, known as a legend in New York, championed the remix of the single In The Dark We Live in a club called Sound Factory. Vasquez got delegated by Emotive Records to remix the song for release in the United States.
Felix then started his own record label by the name of Radikal Fear Records. His label soon turned into one of the most famous House labels worldwide. The label released cuts from Armando, Mike Dunn and DJ Sneak, along with several others, including Felix himself. He released his full-length debut album called Alone in the Dark in 1995. The album had a follow-up Radikal Fear version called The Chicago All Star. It also had a remixed version by the name of Clashbackk Compilation Mix. In 1998, he released another album by the name of Metropolis Present Day Thee Album. He released the song called My Life Musik in 1999, which was released by London Records, as part of their latest deal. It also marked the beginning of studio history with his friend Tyrone Palmer. His next album I Know Electrikboy is known to be an anomaly. The album never got released because of the inside politics of the label. However, a number of completed copies of the album have appeared on the market mysteriously.
He is known in the music industry by numerous aliases such as Aprohead, Thee Jamie Starr Scenario, Virgo Blaktro, Thee Maddkatt Chronicles, Electrikboy, Sharkimaxx and Thee Maddkatt Courtship. His music genres include House, Techno, Electroclash, Minimal and Electronic. With a career spanning over twenty years, he has never lost the willingness and determination to make new music and re-invent himself during the process.
