Feist is an awesome American artist hailing from Amherst within Nova Scotia in Canada and is renowned for her amazing solo career and as an awesome member of bands such as the indie rock sensation, Broken Social Scene. Although Feist kicked off her musical career back in 1991, her solo career saw its debut in 1999 and in just a few years, she had established herself as a force to be reckoned with, a best solo artist amongst top artists. Her first solo album was the 1999 release titled as Monarch (Lay Your Jewelled Head Down). Soon after this release, Feist came out with two more studio albums; Let It Die a 2004 release and The Reminder a 2007 release. These two albums were commercially and critically successfully, selling more than a massive two and a half million records.

 

With two and a half million copies of two albums sold in only a few years, Feist became a world famous artist. One of her solo albums, The Reminder, led to Feist receiving four different Grammy Award nomination including the coveted Grammy Award as the Best New Artist. She also won numerous Juno Awards in 2008; five Juno Awards as the Songwriter of the Year, Pop Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Album of the Year. Born to parents who were both artists, an abstract expressionist painter and a ceramics artist, Feist grew up in Regina within Saskatchewan in Canada as well as in Calgary. At a young age, she began singing as part of several choirs and also developed an interest in writing, aspiring to be a writer when she grew up. When Feist was just twelve years old, she performed at the fabled Calgary Winter Olympics as one of the dancers in the opening ceremony of this world famous Canadian sports event. By the time she was fifteen, Feist had founded her first band, Placebo, and was its lead vocalist. This was a punk music band that was locally famous and went on to become famous all over Canada by winning various Battle of the Bands contests and even being the opening act at the Infest festival in 1991, a festival at which the Ramones also performed.

Feist ‘s first band, Placebo, also opened for the famous band, Radiohead, at a concert the band played in Alberta. It was at the Infest festival that she met Brendan Canning and then became part of Broken Social Scene. Feist’s discography includes five different studio albums. She is also an actress who has starred four films as well as appeared on a TV series. Over the course of her fabulous career, Feist has won many different awards and nominations, totaling up to nine awards and twenty award nominations. These include one Brit Award nomination, four Grammy Award nominations, eight Juno Awards and eleven Juno Award nominations, two MuchMusic Video Award nominations, one Polaris Music Prize nomination, one Shortlist Music Prize award and one nomination.

Feist Announces Australian tour

The Canadian singer-songwriter Feist is a big name in the world of indie pop music. She has won multiple Juno Awards throughout her impressive career. You will now be able to see her performing live in Australia later this year. She is expected to perform a total of three shows in the country. Her first gig is scheduled to take place at The Tivoli in Brisbane on November 28th. She will then go on to perform her remaining two shows at the Forum Theatre and Sydney Opera House Concert Hall on December 1st and 3rd respectively.

Feist Announces 2017 Tour Dates

The Canadian singer is all set to take the road to promote her new effort “Pleasure” that will be out in the stores on April 28. Feist has announced North American tour dates with her first concert on April 27 in Toronto at the Trinity St. Paul. She will be making stops at Boston, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington DC and San Francisco. The indie pop singer has back to back performances in some big cities and also plans to perform at several festivals in 2017.

With “Pleasure” she is making a sort of a comeback, as her last album “Metals” was released in 2011, making it to number 7 on the Billboard 200.
