Farruko released his first single "Sexo Fuera del Planeta" when he was 16 years old to his MySpace account. The single soon gained thousands of followers and Farruko realized that social media could be a powerful tool in helping him to get his music out. The single was so successful online that it soon came to the attention of executives in the Puerto Rican radio and music industries. They decided to harness the talent they had found by using his vocal talents for other artists.
By the age of 18, Farruko was ready to release his debut album, El Talento del Bloque. The album was released by Siente Music and distributed by Universal. The 13-track album, which featured mostly Farruko’s own lyrics, were a massive hit and several big singles came of the album. It also featured collaborations such as "Traime a Tu Amiga" with Arcangel and Julio Voltio, "Su Hija Me Gusta" with José Feliciano, and "Ella No Es Facil" with Cosculluela.
He then proceeded to release another single, "Pa Romper la Discoteca", which wasn’t from the album but which was a massive hit. It featured Yomo and Daddy Yankee.
By 2012, Farruko was gearing up to release his second album. TMPR: The Most Powerful Rookie was his next effort and featured the massive hit single "Feel the Rhythm" ("Siente el Ritmo"). This album marked a transition from his original reggaeton sound to one which featured more elements of Latin pop and electro. The album was so popular that it was even nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Urban Music Album.
Farruko then set off on an extensive touring schedule. He toured throughout Latin America and the United States where he started gaining more and more fans. In Venezuela and Columbia for instance, his fan base grew exponentially after he toured there.
After a very long touring cycle, Farruko was ready to get back to the recording studio. In 2014, he released his third full length album entitled Farruko Presenta: Los Menores. The album was highly anticipated and therefore didn’t take long to become an instant hit. A week after it was officially released in October, the album soared to the top of the Latin Albums chart. It featured numerous songs with collaborations with popular artists including "Bebe Conmigo" with J. Balvin, "Salgo" with Arcangel, Ñengo Flow, D. Ozi, and Genio y Kelmitt and "Interesada" with Luigi 21+.
One song from the album in particular was a massive hit, "6 AM" with J. Balvin. For this hit single, Farruko won the Premios Juventud for Best Song and Latin Grammy Awards for Best Urban Performance and Best Urban Song in 2015.
In 2015, after winning his Grammy awards, Farruko released "Lejos de Aquí," a remix with Yandel. The song was very popular. By June, he collaborated with Alejandra Guzman on her first urban single, "Adios", as her duet partner.
In July, he released the track "Sunset" (featuring Shaggy and Nicky Jam) which soared to the top spot on numerous Latin airplay charts.
Not keen on slowing down, by August, Farruko released The Ones, a compilation of all of his charting singles and collaborations.
By October, Farruko released his fourth full length album, Visionary. The album was so popular on pre-orders; it debuted at the number one spot on numerous Latin album charts and held onto the top spot for a number of weeks.
