Faith Hill: A Child Star

Faith Hill was adopted by Edna and Ted Perry, residents of Mississippi and named Audrey Faith Perry. Even back then she was a star. She was only seven, when she had her first public performance. She was only nine, when she attended Elvis Presley’s concert. This further strengthened her resolve to become a singer. As a teenager, she was a regular performer at various local churches. When she was seventeen, she started her own band, which was a favorite at all local rodeos. She was only nineteen when she moved to Nashville to pursue her lifelong dream.

As it is with other budding artists, her initial years in Nashville were tough. She tried becoming a backup singer for Reba McEntire, but failed. She got her first break, when she got the job of a secretary at a music publishing company. A co-worker of hers overheard her sing and the word was passed on to the boss, who in turn encouraged Hill to become a demo singer for the company. Along with this, she started singing backup vocals at a Nashville café. During one of her performances, an executive from Warner Bros. Records took notice of Hill’s voice and soon helped her sign a recording contract. This was the end of Audrey Faith Perry and the beginning of Faith Hill.

Early Success and 1993

The year 1993 is special for Hill, since her debut album Take Me as I Am came out in this year. “Wild One” was one of the singles from the album, which made new records in the industry. Hill became the first country artist in 30 years to hold No.1 position on Billboard for four back-to-back weeks. Her debut album would eventually sell over 3 million copies. So while it was hard for her to break into the music scene, once she was in, she shot to fame in no time. There has been no looking back for her ever since.

Albums, Certifications & Tours

Faith Hill has released 7 studio albums, 14 No.1 singles, 41 singles, 34 music videos and 4 compilation albums. All of her studio albums with the exception of her latest album Joy to the World were certified multi-platinum by the RIAA. Joy to the World was certified gold.

When she’s not making music, Faith Hill is usually touring with her husband, Tim McGraw. Their upcoming Soul2Soul Tour is the most talked about event in Nashville and amongst country music lovers all over the world.

Musical Style & Influences

“I love 'Somebody to Love' by Queen and of course 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is one of my favorites, just because it makes everyone in the room go crazy. Everyone tries to sing along with it, and half the room gets it right and the other half gets it wrong.” Faith Hill

As she was growing up, Hill listened to a wide variety of artists including Linda Ronstadt, Patsy Cline, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Dolly Parton, and others. Such diverse influencers from country to soul to pop all reflect in her music as well.

A legend in the making, Faith Hill has also influenced other artists such as LeAnn Rimes, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and others.

So don’t miss out on her upcoming concert in your city. Who knows when she will perform next? This is a unique opportunity to catch your favorite star live. With Faith Hill tickets in hand, you can watch her perform live on stage like never before.
