Focusing on the invention and experimentation of tonality, in which hierarchical relationships are formed with the pitch using tonics or key center, the music that came forth during this particular era used rich musical ornamentation. This particular genre of classical music is accredited for expanding the range, size and complexity of instrumental usage, establishing what we know today as operas, concertos and sonatas. Biondi, in his forthcoming performance will be recreating these powerful compositions from the Baroque era with the help of an orchestra and pianist, Kenneth Weiss.

Locatelli’s Sonata in D Minor. The concert that is a part of the Salon Encores Series created by the Carnegie Hall, will present a solo recital by Biondi this time. The last time the musician made his way to the recital hall was along with his fifteen member orchestral group, Europa Galante that he founded in 1990. This performance was recognized by The New York Times as having the zest and precision that is necessary to make Bach’s music sizzle as it must have back in the day.
Born in 1961, Biondi began his career playing concertos for the RAI Symphony Orchestra when he was twelve. The young composer was only sixteen when he embarked on his first international tour, visiting Vienna to perform Bach’s concertos throughout Musikverein.
