Erasure Tickets

Over the past few decades, the insurgence of electronic music has taken the music world by storm. It involves the use of electronic instruments; electric guitar, Hammond organ etc, and technology; computer, synthesizers etc, in order to create music. The music, however, that was a part of the electronic category had to endure a slow but steady rate of popularity. It was, to be most precise, a trickling effect which slowly and steady gained momentum and transformed into a snowballing effect. Once it had kicked off, however, there was no stopping the brute force with which it won the hearts and souls of millions of music loving fans spread all across the globe. Like all other popular forms of music, electronic music had also split down into further sub-genres, all which can be differentiated in accordance with the type of music being played in them.  Progressive house, electro house, minimal, electro pop etc are all part of the electronic music category. Like every genre, each one has seen its fair share of good music. One band, in general, were responsible for redefining the electro pop music genre and were described as one of the most successful bands to ever appear in the category during the late 1980s and early 1990s. This band is none other than Erasure.

Date & Time

Erasure is a band of English origins. It was formed in 1985 in London, England. The band is the brainchild of two highly talented people; Vince Clarke and Andy Bell. Despite the fact that the band did not do so well with the launch of its first three singles in the United Kingdom, it did, however, did well across various other countries across Europe and also ranked in well in Australia. It cemented its popularity and potential in its native country, however, with the release of its fourth single titled Sometimes. The song was a major hit all across the country and as a result it topped out at the number two ranking in the UK Top 40 charts. This song was also considered as the stepping stone for greater success as the band recorded a major streak of super hit songs afterwards. Erasure’s second album The Circus was credited with platinum sales in the UK. Also as a result of its popularity, spent almost over a year in the UK Top 40 charts and topped out at number six.

It was with the launch of the third album The Innocents that the band finally achieved the number one spot on UK charts, not once, but twice over the course of its life. The album was certified triple platinum in its native country whereas it also achieved platinum sales across the US. Their popularity, however, did not fade out afterwards but as a matter of fact, the band was able to successfully launch four consecutive chart topping albums in the UK after the third album. Each album was accredited with a number of hit songs which included Star from what is described by fans as Erasure’s best album to date; Wild!. With the launch of every album during this era, the band was able to generate a mammoth number of sales across the world. Each of their albums till I Say I Say I Say, were certified as platinum across the UK and peaked out at the number one spot in album charts. As a result of all the success that Erasure achieved during their golden era, they were ensuring the fact that their names were being written across the pages of music history as one of the best bands to come out of the UK.

Considering that the band sold a total of twenty five million copies of their albums across the globe and the fact that the band was labeled as definitive synthpop superstars, it would be deemed fair to say that the band are now maestros and legends at what they do. It is not everyday that everyone gets a chance to witness the absolute best of a particular game or platform perform live in front of their eyes.
