Born in West Yorkshire, Sheeran shifted to Suffolk with his family when he was very young. Belonging to a creative family, his father John Sheeran is a lecturer as well as an art curator, with mother working as a jewelry designer. Ed’s older brother is also into music and composes classical melodies. His family is Roman Catholic so he began his musical journey in a church. Ed Sheeran was a part of church choir but also enjoyed playing guitar, learning to play it on his own. While still in high school, he wrote his first songs and started composing music.

Ed Sheeran began his recording career in 2005 and released his first EP ‘The Orange Room EP’ independently. To gain recognition by performing live, he shifted to London where he performed various gigs in 2008. During the same year, he performed in Norwich when he opened for Nizlopi and also auditioned for Britannia High. He played nearly 312 gigs in 2009.

Sheeran was all set to tour with Just Jack in 2009 and before the tour he released an EP titled ‘You Need Me’. He worked with Leddra Chapman on some songs but it wasn’t long term collaboration. After SB.TV released Sheeran’s video, he was approached by Example. The English rapper and dance/pop musician wanted Sheeran to tour with him and he supported his performances with the release of the critically acclaimed EP ‘Loose Change’.

Ed Sheeran moved to Los Angeles and performed in many concerts there before being spotted by Jamie Foxx. The artist allowed Sheeran to use his studio and record songs according to his will. Sheeran’s fan following grew through YouTube and his music was also lauded by the critics.

In 2011 Ed Sheeran came out with his debut album ‘+’, released through Asylum Records. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reaching number five position on Billboard. Ed Sheeran cancels Asia tour dates after cycling accident

The two-time Grammy winner, Ed Sheeran has cancelled his tour dates for Asia following a cycling accident. On October 17, 2017, he posted a picture of his injured arm on Instagram and stated, “A visit to my doctors confirmed fractures in my right wrist and left elbow that will leave me unable to perform live concerts for the immediate future. Sadly, this means that the following shows will not be able to go ahead as planned: Taipei, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong. I’m waiting to see how the healing progresses before we have to decide on shows beyond that. Please stay tuned for more details.” His fans in those cities will be disappointed for sure but they understand that his health comes first.

Ed Sheeran Announces 2018 North American Tour Dates

The 26 year old English Pop superstar who is the voice behind the hit single, Shape of You, Ed Sheeran has announced North American tour dates for late summer and fall of 2018. He will be performing the first gig of the trek at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on August 18th. Ed will then go on to entertain his fans in cities like, Seattle, Toronto, Philadelphia and Dallas. He is scheduled to wrap up things by performing his last show of the tour at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on November 11th.

Ed Sheeran recently said sorry to a London busker after she was banned from Facebook for three days. The story went like this – Charlotte Campbell had posted a video of herself performing Castle on the Hill on Facebook. She complained that she was banned for singing one of Sheeran’s songs. When it came to the pop star’s notice he clarified that he had nothing to do with this and it was bot, an automatic application that banned it. The singer apologized to the fan saying that he loves to see people cover his songs. The busker in turn has appreciated Sheeran coming forward with an apology and was thrilled to hear from her idol.

Ed Sheeran Announces James Blunt as Opening Act for North American Tour

It’s official. James Blunt will open the shows for Ed Sheeran’s upcoming North American tour. Sheeran confirmed the news in a recent tweet that read “Happy to announce my opening act on my North American tour is @jamesblunt x.”

The 48-city trek will kick off on June 29 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City and is scheduled to wrap up in Nashville in October, 2017. The two have collaborated on numerous projects. James’ upcoming album ‘The Afterlove’ will also feature a number of songs co-written by Ed Sheeran.
