Eagles of Death Metal Soar As A Dynamic & Versatile Act
Josh Homme and Jesse Hughes took their lifelong friendship to a new level when they decided to form Eagles of Death Metal. In 1998, they turned their side project into a band that took the blues rock fans by storm with their easygoing persona and riff-heavy music.
Hailing from California’s Palm Desert, both Homme and Hughes met as teenagers and immediately clicked. They went their separate ways after graduation, with Homme forming the epic Queens of the Stone Age and Hughes took up journalism as a career. Fate brought them back together and they reconnected when Jesse was going through a tough divorce. Josh convinced him to take up music and with Hughes rocking the guitar and vocals, and Josh on drums they decided to enter the music industry as Eagles of Death Metal.
The duo released a few songs as part of Josh’s ongoing music series titled “Desert Sessions”. Their music was more akin to garage rock and blues rock and heavily inspired by the legends the Rolling Stones. Even though the fans craved for more songs by the duo, Eagles of Death Metal went on a break for quite some time and Josh Homme gave all his attention to the critically acclaimed band Queens of the Stone Age. In 2003, they reunited and composed some new songs, “I Only Want You” among which was leaked online. Becoming a huge hit, it encouraged Josh Homme and Jesse Hughes to take their music on the road and they embarked on their first tour together. In 2004, their highly anticipated album “Peace Love Death Metal” was released and it featured popular tracks like “Speaking in Tongues”, “Flames Go Higher”, “Miss Alissa” and “Stuck in the Metal”.
“Death By Sexy”, their sophomore album followed in 2006 and received favorable reviews. The band went on two years hiatus and in 2008 came out with “Heart On”. Featuring powerful sound and blistering riffs, the album produced popular tracks like “Wannabe in L.A.”, “High Voltage” and “Cheap Thrills”. The duo’s 2015 release “Zipper Down” is fast track album full of light drumming and 70s’ bass as well as speedy lyrics. Frenetic, funky and bold, this latest addition fits right into the classic desert rock style presented with oomph and extra flavor. The band will be rocking all their hit numbers on the upcoming tour and fans with Eagles of Death Metal tickets can look forward to a great time.
Death From Above 1979 will also be rocking the stage with their fan-favorite numbers “Romantic Rights”, “Black History Month”, “Blood on our Hands” and “Virgins”. They have promised the crowd a concert that will be loud, too fast but plenty of beats to dance to. Overall, it’ll be a great fun.
