The upcoming edition of the E Hula Mau will mark its 19th anniversary since its inauguration. The event is presented by Na Mamo, and it happens to be the only Hawaiian event within Southern California, which lets the participants take part in the Chant and Hula Competition. Making its return to the Terrace Theater in the Long Beach area, the event will be held on the Labor Day Weekend, and would last for three days. Over the course of three days, E Hula Mau will feature workshops that are fully interactive, live performances, Hawaiian Arts & Crafts and apart from all that, the attendees will also get a chance to get a taste of Hawaiian foods. Due to high demand, Na Mamo will also be presenting two Hula Workshops during the course of event at the Westin Long Beach Host Hotel. The cultural workshops are held behind the outdoor stage at the Hawaiian Cultural Village, and they among some of the favorite attractions among the visitors. This year’s edition of E Hula Mau will be offering three workshops that are: Hawaiian Educational Lecture, Slack Key Workshop and Lei Making Workshop.
E Hula Mau means the Hula Lives, which the exact reason why this non-profit organization Na Mamo, which in English means the Cherished Offspring, organizes this event each year. With this annual chant and hula competition, Na Mamo hopes to preserve the Hawaiian cultural values by making other people aware of it through social interaction as well as educating those people at the same time. The event was held for the very first time in 1995, and ever since then Na Mamo has made sure of it that people get the true picture of Hawaiian culture by orchestrating an interactive experience, which makes all the participants feels as one family. The event features live the performances by various dedicated dance which perfect in the art of Hula. These schools present their own renditions of this cultural Hawaiian dance along with the music and chants that go along with it, all through the course of event.
Apart from these performances, E Hula Mau also features cultural workshops which offer instructions as well as lectures on various Hawaiian arts & crafts as well as its music and of course, Hula. Amidst all these activities, the event will also offer abundant options of Hawaiian food to choose from. The event will also feature various other outdoor entertainments, artisan wares and information booths for a number of Hawaiian Community Organizations. Each night of the weekend will conclude with a live musical performance at the Westin Long Beach Hotel. Saturday Night will also offer Kanikapila Jam which will be held at the lobby and lounge of the hotel as well. E Hula Mau is a perfect getaway for the entire family, featuring ample amounts of opportunities to indulge themselves in. The event will offer activities that are fun to do, while being educational at the same time.
