Developing passion for country music
Dylan Scott Robinson was born in the city of Louisiana on October 22, 1990. He grew up in a musical family as his father, Scotty Robinson, used to perform with stars like, Freddie Hart and Freddy Fender. So, it was only natural that Scott decided to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Scott began singing at an early age. While studying in high school, he became a member of the gospel band, Eleventh Hour but later left and went to play music with different members of the Grand Ole Opry. He also won the Local Colgate Country Music Competition and that helped him become popular around his hometown.
At the age of 16, Dylan Scott started to write his own songs and even recorded some of his dad’s original tracks like, Coffee on the Table and In Tune with the Blues. He then flew to the Music City, Nashville where Scott joined the Dreamcatchers Artist Management and soon met a famous musician, Steve Little who immediately recognized his potential. Scott then participated in the Neal McCoy East Texas Angel Network Singing Star contest which he won and before long, he was getting in touch with a well-known songwriter, Charlie Craig.
Dylan Scott worked with Craig and recorded four songs out of which, Between an Old Memory and Me grabbed the attention of Mike Curb who wasted no time in offering him a recording contract. Scott signed with Sidewalk Records and on February 11, 2014, he released his debut extended play, ‘Makin’ This Boy Go Crazy.’ The EP featured five songs including, Makin’ This Boy Go Crazy, Catch Me If You Can, Hurtin’ in the Morning and Twanging on My Heartstrings out of which the first one reached fifty fourth spot on the Country Airplay chart. The song dominated the airwaves and became a fan favorite. It also caught the attention of the critics as Taste of Country praised the track.
Bursting to stardom
Dylan Scott then started to work with producers like, Jim Ed Norman, Matt Alderman, Matt McClure, Curt Gibbs and Kyle Jacobs on his debut studio effort. It took him two years to complete the record and on, August 12, 2016, he released, ‘Dylan Scott.’ The album was issued by Curb Records and peaked at the fifth spot on the Top Country Albums. It made him an overnight star and offered four melodious singles including, Lay It On Me, Crazy Over Me and My Girl. My Girl turned out to be his first song to climb atop the Country Airplay chart and achieved gold level sales in the United States. It also got the attention of the critics as Roughstock stated,
“It's a song that'll melt many a heart and one that could and should be his breakout hit.”
A year later, Dylan Scott came out with his second extended play, ‘Merry Christmas.’ It was his first holiday EP which contained five songs, Winter Wonderland, Jingle Bell Rock, The Christmas Song, White Christmas and Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
