Music took Dwight’s heart at an early age of six. He nurtured his talent by listening to the music of Johnny Cash and Buck Owens, and was a part of several bands during high school. Ditching college, Dwight Yoakam decided to pursue a career in music and left his hometown Pikeville in Kentucky to move to Nashville. Country music’s capital at that time was invested more in the urban cowboy pop style, so Yoakam made another move, this time to LA. Performing in rock clubs, he introduced the locals to hillbilly music and it extended his listener-base.

In 1986, Dwight Yoakam’s debut album “Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc.” hit the shelves and announced his big arrival into the country music scene. It earned him his first Academy of Country Music Award as the “Top New Male Vocalist”. Since then the country music legend has continued to explore the genre, treating the fans to classic anthems. Listen to his old hits as he gives them a bluegrass twist in “Swimmin’ Pools, Movie Stars”. Also catch him live as he treks around the country.
