The Texas based Tejano band, Duelo has been enthralling fans for over a decade. The band has sold over ten million units globally and continues to produce chart breaking norteño style music. Initially starting out as a duo, Dimas Lopez and Oscar Ivan Trevino used to play at a restaurant in Rome, Texas. In 1996, the band was officially formed after Mauricio Cano, Jose Luis Ayala and Pedro Flores joined the group. After releasing few demo tapes and an EP, the group produced their debut album ‘Love Not Just’ in 2002. The album was well received by the audience as well as critics and placed the group in the limelight.
After the debut album, the group released a string of albums within a period of three years that included ‘Live At Monterey’, ‘In The Area of Dreams’, ‘My Musical History’, ‘To Survive’ and ‘From Today’. The album topped the Latin Regional Mexican Airplay chart as well as the Regional Mexican Spanish chart. The following year, the band got another boost in popularity with the release of tracks such as ‘Only With You’, ‘In Love’ and ‘Forget You’ from their 2007 album, ‘In the Hands Of An Angel’. In 2008, the members collaborated with renowned musicians and composers such as Julian Garza, Teodoro Bello and Reynaldo Martinez for their album ‘Brave Story’. The album was again well received and managed to chart well throughout North America. The release of the album was followed by a headlining concert in Houston, Texas at the Reliant Stadium. The event attracted a crowd of over seventy one thousand people, setting a record attendance at the venue.
In 2009, the band topped the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart for the first time with the release of their album ‘I Need More From You’. The album also topped the Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart and landed at eighty-eighth spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Some of the hit tracks from the album included ‘Feelings of Yellow’, ‘The Times’ and ‘I Need More Of You’. Their 2010 release ‘Only You’, again topped both Billboard Latin Albums chart as well as the Regional Mexican Albums chart. It won them a nomination for ‘Best Norteño Album’ at the Latin Grammy Awards.
