Mark Sisqo became an instant hit with his solo debut album Unleash the Dragon thus gaining fame outside the band solely due to his own capacity. His second album Return of Dragon did not succeed in gaining much attraction of the public while currently he is working on his third album too. In 2002 the band reunited and added another member Rufus Scola for their third album Dru World Order. Although much was expected but the album was an ultimate disappointment and thus forced the band to once again go on hiatus. In 2010, the band planned their fourth album InDRUpendence Day and added another member Tao. The band had the commitment and high hopes upon their revival from the second hiatus.

In 1996 the band was formed when the college pals decided to take music seriously and work out their passion. The manager Haqq Islam introduced them a way to publicity and arranged for their performance at Impact Convention. The group shortly thereafter signed to Island records, Island Black division as they made a production deal with Islam’s University of Music. The process of recording the debut album soon began and their self-titled album Dru Hill was released in 1996. The album was applauded to an extent that it was eventually titled gold. Critics claim Dru Hill as the mediatory between Bad Boys of R&B and Boyz II Men. A lot of criticism was received by the members of Jodeci who considered Dru Hill as the direct appropriation of their style most importantly in the lead vocals.

Some of the other noted influenced on the band were of the 1980’s Boy Band New Edition and Stevie Wonder.  Both the groups themselves along with their producers and song writers have written songs for Dru Hill. Not just the beats were unique in their own way but a lot other factors played role in their fame. The stylistic features of the band members and their dance skills made them a big hit in the public.

Enter the Dru was a pretty successful venture and it sold two million copies by 1999. The same year Dru Hill worked for the Broadway Musical Aida and produced soundtrack Enchantment Passing Through. After the merging of The Island Def Jam Music Group, the band members thought of working on their solo albums and for this some band members practically started working on it too. In 2000, Dru Hill once again made their appearance in Def Soul and thought of completing the recordings of their album Dru World Order. As the title song Without Me was selected, the band broke away leaving the album Dru World Order incomplete.

In 2002, Dru World Order was released and it was a much awaited release as the band members anticipated positive response form the listeners. Unfortunately the album failed to make a lasting strong impression and thus could not gather much praise as perceived. In 2005, the compilation album was released by Def Soul which included some of the solo songs by the members of the band. The band made their appearance on TV as well thus marking their comeback in the music scene with a big bang.

Strap up yourself for an adventurous journey as Dru Hill tickets are out for sale this season for a thrilling show. Do not miss the chance and witness the performance which was greatly looked forward to by the R&B fans. Get ready for a fantastic time!
