Born in 1947 in Florida, Donald Felder has made a name for himself in the industry as a legendary musician and songwriter. From 1947-1980, he served as the lead guitarist of the band Eagles which brought him the most fame. His passion for music emerged after seeing the king of rock’ n roll, Elvis Presley, in a show called The Ed Sullivan Show. He got his first guitar at the age of twelve and started playing and teaching himself. Impressed by the rock and roll genre, he formed his first music band when he was fifteen. The group was named as The Continentals, which also included Stephen Stills. During this same time he met Bernie Leadon, who later became one of the founding members of the band Eagles. “Hotel California” was the first album released by the band and it turned out to be an international best seller. The title track Hotel California was written by Felder, which he initially introduced as a demo on instruments. The number became the group’s most successful single. The Eagles found tremendous success following this. Later the group asked Felder to play slide guitar for their musical number "Good Day in Hell". After the success of the single, Felder was called to join the ensemble.
Eagles took a new turn towards rock, moving away from its original country style. Felder was the lead vocalist for the song “Visions” from the fourth album of the group, “One of These Nights”. He also co-wrote the song along with Don Henley. Some of the other songs of the Eagles that were co-written by Don include "Too Many Hands". Its next record “The Long Run” was released in 1979 and after that the group broke up in 1980. After the split of Eagles, Don Felder focused on his solo career and his family. He concentrated more on session work and film composition. He worked as a session guitarist on a record “Living Eyes” by Bee Gees in 1981. He came up with his solo debut album in 1983 and named it “Airborne”. He performed once again with Eagles in 1998 to celebrate the group’s induction into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. These great seven artists performed live "Hotel California", "Take It Easy”, "Visions", "The Disco Strangler" and "Those Shoes", among others.
Don Felder has been a part of other endeavors as well. From 1985 to 1986, he starred in FTV, which is a musical comedy program. At present, Felder plays at charity benefits and corporate shows along with The Don Felder Band. He is also a skilled golfer and hosts his own tournament known as the Howard Keel Golf Classic. Felder has passed his music passion onto his off springs as well and his daughter Leah is member of a music band called Big Dume. Don is recognized for his iconic live performances and his concerts are absolutely fantastic, without a single dull moment.
