Beauty and the Beast is an age old traditional fairy tale that gained fame all across Europe. It had various versions from French to English. The story had the earliest version published in 1740 with an English translation published in 1757. Zemire et Azor was the operatic version of this fairy tale written by Marmontel in 1771. It gained immense popularity in 19^th century and thus it became public as Disney film produced it in 1991 as Beauty and the Beast.

The tale is about a merchant who had four daughters and once had a lot of wealth too. All his daughters were beautiful but Belle or Beauty was the prettiest of all and had the purest heart too. The merchant unfortunately loses his wealth in a tempest at sea, thus he started living a modest life in a small farm house. Many years later, one day he hears the news of his lost ship reaching the port. Immediately he plans to receive his left over merchandise and wishes to bring gifts for his daughters on his return. Although unfortunately he received nothing when he reached the port but on his return he lost his way in the forest. With the desire to seek shelter, he found a palace that was lavishly decorated. The palace had everything in order for the guest to cherish as the unseen owner displayed immense hospitality to the merchant. The owner gave him some gifts as a kind gesture and allowed him to stay there for a night, till the dawn breaks. Merchant was thankful to his unseen host and in the morning before leaving the palace, he thought of getting a white rose from the garden which his youngest daughter requested for.

As the merchant steps into the rose garden to pick the most blossoming rose from the garden, he was confronted with a surprise. Does the merchant succeed in picking up the rose or not?
