Disclosure is an English electronic music duo hailing from Reigate, Surrey, UK. Known for their house music, they have been active on the international music scene since 2010. The duo has taken the world of electronic dance music by storm, releasing songs and albums through record labels such as Moshi Moshi, Make Mine, Transparent, Island Records, PMR and Greco-Roman Records. The group’s members are brothers Howard Lawrence and Guy Lawrence in real life with their first album coming out in 2013, via PMR Records. Disclosure’s first song was released in 2010 and titled Offline Dexterity. In 2011, they released the song Carnival, followed by Tenderly/Flow which saw a lot of radio airplay in the UK. In 2012, they released the EP The Face via Greco-Roman Records. It contained a remix of the Jessie Ware song, Running, which was a big hit on Belgian and Dutch music charts. The song also became part of the 2012 Festival Circuit and was featured on Annie Mac Presents in 2012.
Disclosure’s single, Latch, ranked eleventh on the UK Singles Chart in 2012. In early 2013, they were one of the Hot Top Ten for 2013 on BBC Radio 1 Xtra, with two more of their songs ranking in the top ten on the UK Singles Chart. The song, You & Me, ranked tenth whereas the song White Noise ranked second. They also released an EP, titled The Singles, followed by their first album Settle. It was a very successful album both commercially and critically, debuting first on the UK Albums Chart. It received a four star review from the Guardian and a nine plus score on Pitchfork magazine.
The group then went on to perform at the Glastonbury Festival in 2013 and appeared live on the popular TV show, Later…with Jools Holland. Their debut album also ranked fifth on the Australian ARIA Charts, eighth on the Belgian Ultratop 50, tenth on the Irish Albums Chart, fifth on the Scottish Albums Chart and second on the US Electronic Albums chart. It was also featured on the Billboard Hot 200.
To date, they have also released six EPs. The first, released in 2011, was titled Carnival. It was followed by The Face, released in 2012 and The Face (The Remixes). In late 2012, they released the EP, Latch (The Remixes) which featured Sam Smith. In 2013, their first EP was Control, followed by The Singles. They have also released seven singles to date, which have ranked first and second on many charts globally.
They have also collaborated on a number of their songs with artists and bands such as Everything Everything, Crystal Fighters, Jess Mills, Jack Dixon, Q-Tip, Emeli Sande, Naughty Boy, Jessie Ware, Azari & III, Janet Jackson, Nelly, Ralphi Rosario, Xavier Gold, Artful Dodger and Lifford. They have also contributed songs to albums such as Moda Black and Lovebox Jukebox.
