Date & Time

The Beginning of a Stellar Music Career

Dillon Francis was a DJ at a club in Los Angeles until 2010. He performed each night and played random music such as Top 40 songs and deadmau5-style house music. He wanted to create music and perform but could not due to lack of time.

Soon after Francis quit his job and started focusing on music production. He took inspiration from Dave Nada and Munchi and produced a copy of “Masta Blasta”. He later uploaded it on Sound cloud and took to twitter to get Diplo’s review after his old manger sent him a copy.

Diplo loved the song and asked him to meet up, developing a deep friendship later. This opportunity gave Francis a head start in his career. He later collaborated with Major Lazer, Matrin Garrix, DJ Snake and Calvin Harris among many others.

The David Francis Cat Memes

Francis is humble and a fun-loving person. He showed his sense of humor on the internet through “The Dillon Francis Cat Memes”. Even though he stopped making them after a while but a loyal fan and blogger keeps them coming to continue the cat memes legacy. Not only this, Francis is an absolute cat lover and adopts cats. Talking about his preshow ritual in an interview, he joked on how he hits himself with a can before his shows so that nobody else gets a chance.

The Music Albums

His first breakthrough was “Que Que” in 2011, a Spanish track which he composed with Maluca and Diplo. He got a huge fan following after this record and performed on big stages. Dillon also came up with an influential anthem “I.D.G.A.F.O.S” in 2011. Soon after, it become a viral hash tag and gave him many merchandising opportunities.

His first music album, “Money Sucks, Friends Rule” released with Columbia Records in 2014 and exhibits versatile vocals. Francis collaborated with the Canadian duo Sultan and Sheppard and featured in The Chain Gang of 1974 to bring the lively vibe with rock guitar and a bit of romance. The album’s first song “White Boi” features Columbian pop singer Lao Ra and exhibits catchy Spanglish - Spanish and English lyrics. As the tempo increases, the album builds up with songs such as “No Pare”, having fun and enamoring lyrics.

Francis released his first Spanish language album and second studio album, “Wut Wut” on September 28, 2018. It features a diverse Latin pop cast including Lao Ra, Ximena Sarinana and De La Ghetto among others. It has eleven different songs and is recorded in the Dominican Republic, Mexico City, New York and Miami during the Latin pop explosion. According to Francis, he pays a tribute to the sounds that gave so much to him through the album “Wut Wut”. He says Latin music is his heart and soul and he will always make moombahton.

Francis is loved by the fans and appreciated by the critics. He was nominated in the Latin Grammys and Latin Music Awards and his popularity is growing each day. He also gained prominence by being announced as one of MTV Clubland's Artists to watch in 2013.

Francis produces crowd pleasing tracks with versatility in pop music. He is obsessed with Dancehall riddims. In an interview, he told that his friend Munchi introduced him to Dutch house synth textures and reggaeton beats which has become his favorite genre. He later came up with “Burn Up The Dance” with Skrillex which is a blend of jungle grooves and funky vocals. Sing along “Set Me Free”, “What’s Your Name”, “Masta Blasta”, “Coming Over” and “Get Low” with your Dillon Francis tickets and live it up.
