Dierks Bentley’s latest album title has generated a lot of buzz amongst his fans. The singer-songwriter has told Rolling Stone Magazine that the album title is indeed borrowed from his wife of ten years, Cassidy’s maiden name. However, he stresses that the album is not autobiographical.
He says that the album is inspired by the television show The Affair, which exhibits the aftermath of an extramarital affair on a married couple.
“‘[Black] is the other side of the story, the things we don't talk about as much,’ he (Bentley) says, ‘like the two people who got ditched so two people could live happily ever after.’” (Rolling Stone, 2016)
The album’s catchy numbers “Somewhere on a Beach” and “I’ll be the Moon” have already been number one hits in their initial week of release. However, when listened to as a whole in its released order, “Black” becomes the evolution of an individual from a careless boy into a sensitive man.
Dierks Bentley concerts, despite their large crowds, tend to resemble a small intimate party. They consist of a lot of booze and crowd-surfing, a combination that promises a fun night out. The Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach is one of his stops, perfectly befitting the atmosphere.
