Diana Ross originally belongs to Detroit, Michigan, U.S. and she has been covering musical genres like R&B, soul, disco, jazz, and pop in her music. She has been working with Record Labels like, Lu Pine, RCA, Motown, and EMI during her musical career. She has done several associated acts with artists like The Supremes, Lionel Richie, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, Michael Jackson, CHIC, The Temptations as well as Ashford & Simpson. She was titled as the Female Entertainer of the Century by Billboard magazine in 1976. But this was not enough for Diana, as she was also acknowledged as the most successful music artist among females, in the history, by Guinness Book of World Records in 1993. She has the record of giving the most number one hit songs by any female artist on charts, with a total of eighteen No.1 hit records in the US only. She has been able to sell approximately hundred million records all over the world. She has been exception with her work throughout her career, and this is the reason why Diana has got double stars on Hollywood Walk of Fame, she got one for her successful career as a solo artist and another for her exceptional association with The Supremes. Diana Ross is also among the few artists of our country who received the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Honors Award, she got it in December 2007.
These terrific successes came to her due to her hard work and determination. Diana got her association with Motown Records after she won a singing contest in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She worked her way to success by working as a hair stylist, seamstress, make-up artist and costume designer during her the preliminary years of her career. Motown released her first time in the May of 1970. Becoming famous instantly her first single Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand) got at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. Moreover, her work like Ain't No Mountain High Enough was her first number one pop song and got her a Grammy Award nomination for being the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. After that all that Diana Rose got was success and fame. To honor her contributions for the music industry of our country BET Awards, presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
