The upcoming concert in Philadelphia is by the much acclaimed musician, Diana Ernestine Earle Ross. Born in 1944, in Detroit, Diana’s career began when she was only fifteen. It was at this time that Diana was approached by Milton Jenkins who was then working as the manager of The Primes. Jenkins invited Diana to become a part of the female version of The Primes named “the Primettes.” Following the inclusion of Diana in the band, it produced hit singles such as “There Goes My Baby.” The all-female group was invited to audition at the Motown Records. In 1970, Diana Ross decided to quit the doo-wop group and pursue a solo career. During this time she had already established a name for herself as the ensemble released several mainstream hits.
As a solo artist, Diana released her debut self-titled album in 1970. The record became an instant hit, producing singles such as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Reach Out and Touch.” In the following years, Diana went onto become one of the most successful singers in the music industry. With 22 studio albums to her name, Diana has composed and sung music that falls in the genres of jazz, R&B, pop, soul, dance and disco.
