Devo Tickets

Devo, a cult sensation, broke through to the mainstream with rock music in the early seventies. The band’s journey towards success began with the release of a Billboard Chart Hit Whip It. The release changed fortunes for the band, a success rate which was effectively maintained and helped the band appear on major music channels and on cover page of popular magazines.
Devo emerged with a concept of ‘De-evolution’ and took the inspiration of the band’s name from the same idea. It presented the world their opinion about the regression of mankind. According to their belief, the herd mentality of the American society actually opposes the idea of evolution. This view of society being rigid and repressive actually reflected in their music in the form of robotic and jerky rhythms.
The concept that started as a joke at Kentt State University by the students, turned into a serious thing by Casale, Mark Mothersbaugh and Lewis, forming a band named ‘Sextet Devo’. The trio with the inclusion of a couple of other members took the idea of ‘De- evolution’ further in their performances unveiling The Complete Truth about De-evolution in a video that played in University festivals. With a slight change in the lineup, the band continued to make performances at local festivals and University gatherings.

Devo got noticed for its efforts by a renowned multi talented artist Neil Young, who offered them to participate in making his film ‘Human Highway’. The movie featured the band’s music which acted as a promotional tool for Devo. It signed with a private label Booji Boy and released a number of singles including, ‘I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ and ‘Be Stiff’ among the others. The band soon grabbed the attention of Warner Bros Records and signed a contract with it. This was a point when it formally got its association strong with the music industry.
Devo released its first album Q: Are we not men? A: We are Devo!, in the late seventies. The album was received with a mix response. The band dramatized the concept of dehumanization emotional repression in order to attack it, but the critics took it differently calling the group ‘fascists’. The band didn’t lose hope and continued producing music with their entire passion. Further releases of Devo intensified the element of electronic instrumentation in their music, making it sound even more mechanical.
It has launched nine albums in total, with Something For Everybody being the latest one. The band has witnessed rise and fall on the music charts with all its releases. Its singles like, ‘Beautiful Girl’, ‘The Girl You Want’ and ‘Head Like A Hole’ among a list of others have achieved immense popularity, making its way to Hollywood by getting featured in movies.
Devo’s philosophy, style and sound have influenced famous music artists of the music industry ranging from Range Against the Machine to Lady Gaga. Its popularity grew as a band that is the most challenging and subversive among the existing punk rock bands.

Devo is famous for dressing up in the most unusual attire for its live performances. The members dress alike and have showed up wearing plastic toupees and flight suits. They have also appeared with stuff as strange as red tiered headwears resembling flower pots. It is not just their getup that makes the performances exciting but the energy level of all the members in displaying atypical acts is really commendable as well. The band also plays short clips and videos at the screen behind them to keep the interest of the audiences intact throughout the show.
The band being innovative introduced a completely unique idea through its music. Receiving a bit of criticism proved to be fruitful for Devo and helped channelizing its way of delivering music. Today it has reached the heights of success with glorious three decades of incredible music. The band is ready to deliver a live concert with the same energy level! So hurry and get your Devo Tickets before they are all sold out!
