Demetri Martin found mainstream success for the first time in the field of comedy when he performed in "Premium Band" that aired on Comedy Central. It was a standup showcase. In 2003, he was awarded with Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for his show named "If I…" In 2004 this show was changed into a British TV special. For a year Martin wrote script for "Late Night with Conan O’Brien." By 2005 he got his very own standup special at Comedy Central Presents.

That same year he made a return to The Daily Show named as Youth Correspondent this time in the segment named "Professional Important News by Demetri Martin." He was featured as a character in music video of the song Someone to Love by Fountains of Wayne. He also starred in the video of the song Selfish Jean by Travis. He appears in this video wearing different t-shirts which have lyrics written all over them.

Demetri Martin has also been featured in the movie "The Rocker" from 2006 which stars Rainn Wilson. He got the role of a videographer for the band in the movie. Martin was the host of the second season of "Taking Woodstock," a comedy drama film. In 2010, his second self titled DVD was released. In 2011 he was featured in the film named "Take Me Home Tonight."
