Mike Patton: Defining metal music
Mike Patton was born as Michael Allan Patton in 1968. He has not only made his name as a metal singer but has also wowed fans with his acting skills. Moreover, Patton has also tried his luck as a record producer and a film composer. Over the years, he has worked with many bands like, Tomahawk, Peeping, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Lovage but he is best known for his work with the alternative metal band, Faith No More.
As a member of the Grammy nominated group, Faith No More, Mike recorded his first album titled, ‘The Real Thing’ which hit the shelves in 1989. The album enjoyed massive success throughout the globe and was certified platinum in the United States. It was met with positive reviews from the critics and was included in Rolling Stones’ list of, ‘The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.’ Moreover, ‘The Real Thing’ also made the Kerrang!’s list of the, ‘Albums You Must Here Before You Die.’ Since then, Patton has gone on to deliver vocals for a number of hit Faith No More records like, ‘King for a Day… Fool for a Lifetime’ and ‘Album of the Year’ both of which recorded platinum level sales in Australia.
Dave Lombardo: The co-founder of Slayer
Known worldwide for his drumming skills, Dave Lombardo has made a big impact on metal music. He has also won a couple of Grammy Awards for songs, Final Six and Eyes of the Insane. Lombardo is also the co-founder of the trash metal group, Slayer.
Dave began his career with Slayer in the early 80s as a drummer. After the group’s first two albums failed to chart, the band tasted success when it churned out its third record, ‘Reign in Blood’ which was awarded gold certification by the RIAA. He played drums on two more gold selling studio efforts, ‘South of Heaven’ and ‘Season in the Abyss’ before Lombardo quit the band. After some years, Dave joined Slayer again but after working with the group on studio albums like, ‘God Hates Us All,’ ‘Christ Illusion,’ ‘World Painted Blood’ and ‘Repentless,’ he parted ways with the band for the second time. As of now, he can be seen jamming with groups like, This Misfits and Suicidal Tendencies.
The Dawn of Dead Cross
Dead Cross was formed when Dave Lombardo decided to form a supergroup with names like, Gabe Serbian, Michael Crane and Justin Pearson. The band got off to an impressive start and released its first single on March 8th, 2016 titled, We’ll Sleep When They Are Dead. After that, they decided to work on their first studio effort. Serbian however left the group. This led to Lombardo recruiting Mike Patton as the band’s new vocalist who wrote and recorded his own lyrics for Dead Cross’s upcoming record which is scheduled to hit the shelves on August 4th.
They are now expected to embark on their first North American tour. They will be hitting the road in August and will be performing their first gig at Santa Ana’s The Observatory. The band will then go on to perform plenty of shows in cities like, Vancouver, Seattle, Baltimore and Philadelphia.
