Daniil Trifonov was born in 1991 in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. He was a child with a passion for music. His initial training was done by his parents and then he went on to learn piano at various local conservatories and institutes. Currently Trifonov is rated as one of the most outstanding among the current lot of young emerging pianists. He completed his music study from the Gnessin Special School of Music. Daniil Trifonov was first noticed by the music world, when he got a 4th position at the International Scriabin Competition held in Moscow at the age of 17. Soon after that he again shined at the 3rd International Piano Competition of San Marino by winning the first prize. At this competition he also managed to get a special award for playing one of the compositions of acclaimed composer Chick Chorea. At the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw, Poland in 2010, Trifonov not only earned a 3rd place with a medal but also a Polish Radio Special Prize. In 2011 Arthur Rubenstein International Piano Master Competition was held in Tel-Aviv, Israel and at this event Trifonov again proved himself by winning the first prize. At this event he also won the Best Performer of a Chopin Piece prize. He has earned a number of scholarships such as the Young Talents of Russia, Guzuki Foundation Award, Scriabin and Yuri Rozum International Charity Foundation Scholarship.
During his short music career that spans hardly over a few years he has already performed with orchestras like Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Siberian Symphony, orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Philharmonique de Radio France, Boston Symphony, New York Philharmonic and Russian National Orchestra. Some of the famous musicians he has worked with include Valery Gergiev, Massaki Suzuki, Alan Gilbert, Charles Dutoit and Nikolaj Znaider. Trifonov has performed at a number of festivals like Round top Festival USA, Verbier Festival Switzerland, White Nights Festival Russia, Edinburgh International and Brighton Festival UK. One famous music critic after watching the performance of Trifonov commented that “Trifonov has incredible technique, with a touch of tenderness and I have never heard something like this”. Another critic termed him as a thoughtful artist with virtuosic technique and flair.
