About Dan Auerbach
Auerbach is best known for being part of the garage-rock band, The Black Keys. He founded the band with his childhood band (and Black Keys drummer) Patrick Carney. After practicing throughout high school, the two-person band was signed onto the indie label Alive in 2002 with whom they released their debut album shortly afterwards, “The Big Come Up”. After the success of this album, they were signed onto the Jazz/rock label Fat Possum Records and created three more albums.
Their 2010 album “Brothers” is considered the band’s breakthrough album, as it got them three Grammys. This included Best Alternative Album Award of the Year. They followed this up with a 2011 “El Camino” which reached # 2 on the Billboard 200. They went on a promotional arena tour for this album, and one three more GRAMMY Awards the following year. The latest album this band has produced is called “Turn Blue” and was released in 2015.
Easy Eye Sound
Dan Auerbach has been working on the launch of his music label for many years but has not been able to find the right time for it. In 2017, Auerbach embraced this opportunity with the release of his solo album “Waiting on a Song”. The album is a love-letter to Nashville, fitting for the launch of his new label as it originates from Nashville. This is what Auerbach has to say about his connection to the city; "Living in Nashville has definitely changed the way I think about music and the way that I record it. I didn't have all of these resources before. I am working with some of the greatest musicians that ever lived." —Rolling Stone Magazine
His label has signed some of the most promising and upcoming acts from the city, as well as old established musicians. John Finley and Sonny Smith for example are two well-established artists whose songs Auerbach has produced under this label. One of Nashville’s most respected and renowned sound engineers, Dave Ferguson has also been instrumental in the establishment and current projects of this label.
Not Your Everyday Run-of-the-Mill Label
Auerbach’s label is independent of the tradition set by other record companies. Its work ethic is different and innovative. As a result, they have chosen to promote their record company with a good old nationwide tour. The recording artists have become a part of the Easy Eye Sound house-band along with many legendary session musicians from Nashville. During these live shows, audiences will have the chance to see Gene Chrisman on the drums, who is known for playing with Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley. He will be joined by Bobby Wood on keyboards (Dusty Springfield, Elvis Presley), Elton John’s right hand pedal guitarist on guitars and Dave Roe on bass (Sturgill Simpson, Johnny Cash).
Easy Eye Sound Revue
This tour is being called the “Easy Eye Sound Revue” as it is the first time audiences will hear the outfit collected by this new label. The tour is headed to a number of cities throughout 2018. It will kick off in Vancouver and then head on over to Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, Boston and many more destinations. Keep a track of Dan Auerbach tickets for the availability of a show near you!
