Dakota Valley Symphony Tickets

Minnesota’s beloved Dakota County has been blessed with a lovely community arts organization that is based on no profit no loss and remains focused on giving back to its audience. This volunteer arts organization is called the Dakota Valley Symphony. The venues where it has performed are endless, from Apple Valley to Saint Paul; the Symphony has left its mark. The festivals where it has participated are more famous for the appearances made by this amazing symphony organization. In the late eighties, symphony was becoming all the rage across the US and particularly in small towns and cities. That is when the doors to symphony were opened to twin south suburban cities of Dakota Valley. The musicians were all highly skilled but scattered apart, they were put together to provide the audience with an experience which promoted varied music from different genres. Local talents finally got the opportunity to turn their dreams into reality and aspire to become great musicians.

The Symphony was originally called the Dakota Valley civic Orchestral Association. It was a fairly long and rather forgetful name for a symphony that was performing pro bono that too on voluntary grounds. Over the years the Symphony incorporated choruses and other orchestras which has ballooned its initial sixty member population to a staggering two hundred musicians and singers. There are various genres that the symphony plays which include theater music, themes from Broadway or Hollywood, classic orchestra pieces, oratorio and concerti. The big name does not make the symphony forget its humble beginnings and that’s why it can be seen playing at public parks, schools and even churches.

Music director Stephen J. Ramsey first came up with the idea of hiring local talent and forming an orchestra that would be a notch above the rest. Today his perseverance has surely paid off; the Dakota Valley Symphony is now in its twenty seventh year. Stephen still conducts the symphony today. The symphony incorporates the best in the business of summer pops orchestra, the symphony chorus and of course the Symphony itself.  The orchestra of Austin also uses his services and has been continuing to do so for nearly two decades. Educated beyond what many in his field are accustomed to, the music director and conductor of the Symphony holds a master’s degree from the University of Missouri. The Symphony has a jam packed season this year which had started In December last year features some great performances still lined up.

All the performances of the Dakota Valley Symphony will be held at the Burnsville Performing Arts Centre. Some of the most anticipated performances to come are, "an afternoon at the pops" which is a beautiful mix of classics and modern pop; "Handel’s Messiah" a beautiful work of art that will take you straight to the holiday season in the blink of an eye and the tug or pluck of a string; and of course the most anticipated of all, "Grieg meets Verdi". This last peace is by far the most sought after show in the entire season. Imagine being thrown back in history through the tunes of time immemorial and being taken back to listen to some of the most beautiful and romantic pieces known to man. If you have a flair for romance and art in its true form, the Symphony will take you to the extreme of this kind of musical art. The musicians often mingle with avid fans all throughout the season which not only helps promote the efforts of symphony but also shows that the best of the best do not forget their roots.
