Corey Smith was born on November 9, 1979 in the small town in Georgia. He always wanted to get out in the bigger world and never liked being a small town boy. But eventually he realized that you can never get away from your roots. He finally understood that it is not the town he dislikes but rather him not being able to make his presence felt in a way that it mattered. He started playing music and gradually got noticed by his small town people and his colleagues. He used to play in different local bars to entertain people. After a few years he was overwhelmed by the stress of being an uneducated artist. He got admission in the college and later changed his college for his wife. He decided that the things which mattered to him were getting education, building his family and to give something positive to the world.
During his college days, Corey Smith continued to sing and write songs for his friends and family and they used to love his music. He learnt that the songs shall be meaningful and revolves around everyday issues in order to gain the attention of people. After graduating from University of Georgia, he accepted a teaching job. He continued his singing while teaching at North Gwinnet High School. In 2002, he took part in a songwriting competition which changed everything for him. It declared that the winner will be given the chance to release his album at the company’s expense. After winning, Corey released his first album “Undertones” which was well received by the people of Georgia. Soon different bar owners pleaded to him to perform in their bars. He became known all across Georgia as a great upcoming voice with heartwarming lyrics and wonderful music.
Corey Smith has made his name in the music industry through word of mouth and his tours. His album “Undertones” was released in 2002 and he has not looked back since then. His second album “In the mood” is very similar to his first one due to the demand of his fans who liked the booze driven lyrics. His third album “The good life” was released in 2005. His next album “Keeping up with Joneses” was released in 2009. His latest album “The broken record” has been released recently in June, 2011. He is touring to promote the newly released album.
