From Being a Buried Treasure to Becoming a Popular Face in Comedy Scene
Colin Quinn started his standup career in the mid 80s, performing regularly at the comedy clubs. His television breakthrough came with the game show Remote Control in which he was the co-host and later he ended up on the popular Saturday Night Live. He was a part of the late night show for five seasons, following which he joined Comedy Central’s “Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn”. The show allowed him to branch out a bit as he was not just the host but also the show’s executive producer and creator. He starred in several movies as well and appeared in “Comedian”, “A Night at the Roxbury” and “Grown Ups”.
Colin made his Off-Broadway debut in 1994 with the solo show “Sanctifying Grace” which was later reproduced as Colin Quinn—An Irish Wake. In 2010 he landed on Broadway with Colin Quinn Long Story Short which was directed by Jerry Seinfeld. The show earned a Drama Desk Award nomination and also aired as HBO special in 2011, which resulted in an Emmy nomination. Comic Genius! Colin is the Quintessential New Yorker
Coming on the heels of his acclaimed “Colin Quinn Long Story Short” and “Colin Quinn Unconstitutional”, Colin Quinn The New York Story traces the roots of the city and individual contributions made to give it its abrasive character. Colin Quinn is the quintessential New Yorker – vocal, rude, pushy, pugnacious, opinionated and full of attitude. He celebrates these very qualities in his new show, sparing no one from his admiration and mockery.
Loosely based on his “The Coloring Book”, the show gives Quinn’s personal account from colonial beginnings to the present day. A breezy and entertaining take on history of civilization, Colin Quinn The New York Story starts from the time of Native New Yorkers, the Lenape Indians who introduced the country to tobacco and later moves on to the Dutch, who contributed cursing and irritability, equally cherished qualities in NY. The show comes alive with Quinn’s comedic stride and the hilarious way he presents each ethnic group.
Colin Quinn tickets will treat you to a well-honed, fast paced evening combined with unified themes. The dynamic duo of Quinn and Jerry Seinfeld raises the stand-up routine to satisfying live theater. This is definitely one New York Story you want to hear.
