Colbie Caillat was born in Newbury California in 1985 as Colbie Marie Caillat. She is also commonly known as Coco and she is multi-faceted artist as she is not just a singer but also a sound pianist and guitar player. She started to take singing lessons at a very tender age and for vocals her main inspiration was Lauryn Hill singing in Sister Act 2 and while she was in sixth standard she gave her first stage performance. Colbie Caillat first album Coco was released in 2007 under the label of Universal Records, album name was the same as her nickname and the album was simply a stunner for both the audience and the critics. Coco was an instant hit and went on charts in many countries namely US Billboard 200 (#5), Australian Charts (#13), Netherlands (#11), France (#15), Germany (#15) and UK (#44). This album was certified 2x Platinum in the US and Gold in UK and alone in the US sold 2,060,000. Her second album was Breakthrough which was released by the same recording label in 2009 and up till now this is her only album that went to the #1 slot on US Billboard 200 charts and was at #5, #9 and #10 respectively on charts in Canada, Germany and Austria. Breakthrough was her first and only album till date to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
Caillat has also got ten music videos and seven hit singles to her name, her song “Bubbly” from the album Coco was certified Platinum in Australia and the US and was on #1 position on Australian Charts and US Hot Adult Top 40 tracks. Another song “Realize” from the same album also went Platinum in the US. From Breakthrough two of her singles “Fallin’ for You” and “I Never Told You” were certified Platinum and Gold respectively. Caillat is truly gifted and this can be judged from the fact that she has been nominated for nineteen different awards out of which she has won eight.
Caillat is all set to release her third album All of You very soon and she is looking forward to win the hearts of her fans once again. Two great singles from this album have already been released “I Do” and “Brighter Than The Sun”, these songs have already charted on US Billboard 200 US Adult and in countries like Germany and Austria. Caillat also performed on VH1 Best Cruise Ever in April 2011 with other artists like Lifehouse and Train and this cruise went from Tampa to Mexico and Cozumel.
