Country music enthusiasts are in for an exciting summer as the CMA Music Festival confirms its dates and lineup for 2015. Inaugurated back in 1972 as ‘the Fan Fair’, the event was held in April. It took place at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville and was founded by the Country Music Association. The showcase was attended by 5000 guests who witnessed twenty hours of pure entertainment.

In the following year, the four-day show brought in an attendance of 10,000 and numbers continued to increase as each year passed. The Fan Fair of 1973 was memorable as Paul McCartney (a non-country artist) performed and the concert also brought together Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton for the very last time.

It was in 2004 that the Fan Fair became the CMA Music Festival in order to embrace the brand name. Over the years, CMA Music Festival has undergone several venue changes, from holding shows at the Tennessee State fairgrounds to Bridgestone Arena, Nashville Convention Center and the Riverfront Park. In 2007, the record of the highest attendance was established as a whopping 191,000 attendees made their way to the CMA Music Festival.
