The grooming of a star
Ernest Clayton Walker Jr. was born in 1969 and grew up living with his father. He was the oldest of five children and showed the most interest in music. So his father gave him a guitar when he was nine years old and helped him learn it as well. By the time Walker had turned fifteen years old, he had started taking part in several different talent competitions, to fulfill his dreams of playing for large audiences. He even managed to get some airplay for one of his earlier songs, after the radio jockey defied the rules in order to play his record because it was “too good” to be ignored.
Chain of Love
Walker got a job at a tire and rubber company after graduating from high school and at the same time he started playing music in different venues around his area. While working at a bar called ‘the Neon Armadillo,’ he was spotted by James Stroud, a producer with a record company, who signed him up to his first professional contract, in 1993.
Walker got to work on his debut album straight away and released his first self-titled record later that year. It made an instant mark and made it to number eight on the US Country music charts. It also managed to top the Canadian Country music charts and was certified platinum in both countries. Its follow up, titled “If I Could Make a Living” came out a year later and managed to do even better, making it to number four on the US Country music charts and topping the Canadian country music charts once again.
All in all Walker has made nine studio albums to date, of which eight have made it into the top ten of the US country music charts. Four of his albums have also recorded platinum level sales in the US, while his 1999 release “Live, Laugh, Love” recorded gold level sales in the country.
Dreaming With Eyes Open
In 2014, Walker released the latest of his total five compilation albums and this was his last contribution before he released a brand new song, titled “Right Now” in September 2015. At the same time, he also announced his intentions of releasing a new album soon which, judging by its first single will focus more on the blues genre of music than country. It looks like he has deliberately tried to do something new and unexpected with this record. However if you want to see him performing live, then you can get Clay Walker tickets and watch this amazing singer on stage, as he headlines a series of concerts for his millions of fans everywhere.
