Before starting off on his solo career, City and Colour was formerly part of the famous post hardcore band, Alexisonfire, as its vocalist and guitarist. It also featured a number of amazing collaborations with artists such as Gordon Downie from the amazing group, Tragically Hip, and with the band Attack in Black.
This amazing album led to a spectacular tour that covered much of America, the Bring Me Your Love Tour, which was a massive suggest. It features supporting acts Girl in a Coma as well as Tegan and Sara. Following this, an amazing special limited release of the album was announced; this release was so popular that when the album was place on pre-order, countless thousands of fans swamped the website to place their orders, crashing the website. This clearly showed that City and Colour is an artist with a huge fan following, one of the best known in his unique genre of folk and acoustic music. City and Colour also went on a US tour supported by William Elliot Whitmore; this tour made this Canadian artist famous in much of the US.
In 2010, City and Colour was again back in US where he went on tour as the headlining act supported by the group, Lissie. This tour also promoted his second album and was followed by a tour in the UK with supporting acts Butch Walker and P!nk. The same year, City and Colour collaborated with Shad on one of the artist’s songs, Listen from the album TSOL, resulting in a remake titled as Live Forever.
In 2011, City and Colour performed the song Old Man by Neil Young at the Juno Awards in 2011 and soon releasing the first hit single from his 2011 album, Little Hell, a singe titled as Fragile Bird. This phenomenal single ranked first on the Canadian charts with the album itself also ranking number one on the Canadian charts, number two on the Australian charts, at the top of the UK charts, seventh on the US Indie charts and also at the very top of the Billboard 200.
