He spent the early 2000s struggling to get his career on the road but managed to come under the spotlight when he won the Nashville Star in 2006. His life changed instantly and twelve years later, Young can be seen selling out shows all over the globe. Chris Young was signed by RCA Nashville after he was declared the winner of ‘Nashville Star’ in 2006. He later released his debut self-titled record before the year could end which did not enjoy much success.
The Man I Want To Be
Chris Young didn’t slow down and churned out his second studio effort, ‘The Man I Want to Be’ in 2009. This album was certified gold by the RIAA and contained four singles including the title-track which earned him two American Country Award nominations for, ‘Music Video of the Year’ and ‘Male Music Video.’ It also received 3.5/5 stars from AllMusic.
Young then came out with his next studio project, ‘Neon’ in 2011. It peaked at the fourth spot on the Billboard 200 and is his only platinum record to date. The record also yielded two number-one songs, Tomorrow and You. He followed that up by coming out with two consecutive gold records, ‘A.M’ and ‘I’m Coming Over.’ The latter got him an ACM Award nomination for the ‘Album of the Year.’
On the road
Chris Young’s seventh studio album is titled, ‘Losing Sleep.’ It came out in 2017 and turned out to be his second record to reach the first spot on the Top Country Albums. Young has been on tour in support of this record and will soon be seen taking the stage at the Tacoma Dome.
