Pierce has used her gift of storytelling for building up a successful career. As an author, she has penned eight books, with Laughing In the Dark (Simon&Schuster/Howard) being the most recent and ranking amongst Pollstar’s best-selling live performers. Her ninth album Did I Say That Out Loud was released in April 2010, and her tenth comedy DVD I’m Kind of a Big Deal, that was released September 2011, signifies her USO tour in Afghanistan. Her DVDs have been consistent strong sellers on tour and in retail with four titles being certified gold by the RAIA and three titles certified RAIA platinum, with sales of about more than a 100,000 units. She has served as a host of the Inspirational Country Music Awards as well as the Christian Music Hall of Fame. She also served as a co-host for Total Living Network’s talk show "Aspiring Women," and has five Daytime Emmy nominations under her belt. She has made appearances on Life Today, The Mike Huckabee Show, The Wanda Sykes Show, as well as the popular talk show The View on ABC.
While employed at a theme park in Nashville, Pierce got her first break with her performance as Minnie Pearl, a Grand Ole Opry star, signaling the start of her comedic career. She auditioned for Opryland USA while she was a college student and managed to get a part in a music and dance based show by the name of Country Music USA. After several failed attempts, she chose to explore her comedic side and later memorized jokes from Grinders Switch, impersonating Minnie Pearl for six years.
Chonda Pierce, recorded "Second Row, Piano Side" that was majorly influenced by her Southern roots. She is equipped with a twisted sense of humor and a wealth of material as her child hood was associated with a Southern church. Amazingly, both the church goers and other people who prefer to stay away from such humor find her material hilarious and appreciate her efforts in comedy.
Her undying efforts for lifting the human spirit with laughter and comedy are notable, as she also gives time to charitable activities. A case in point was her role in establishing facility in 2006, "Branches Recovery Center," for the aid of those suffering from recovery issues and depression as well as other emotional issues.
Pierce’s major label debut was in 1998's "Havin' a Girls' Night Out," followed up with Yes and Amen a year later. The album "Four Eyed Blonde" came out in 2001 and critics started to compare her to Carol Burnett. The queen of clean comedy has performed on TNN’s "Music City Tonight," "The 700 Club," Mark Lowry’s Comic Belief Tour, and with Bill Gaither , Garth Brooks, and others. She also participates in Billy Graham crusades and Women of Faith conferences. Preacher’s Kids International was founded by her for those kids who grow up in the parsonage.
Her talent for mixing music and comedy into a frothy blend that always leaves audiences hysterically laughing is unique. "This Ain’t Prettyville," the opening song of her new project, is about the current fascination with Botox and plastic surgery.
Chonda Pierce is the best-kept-secret in the world of comedy and entertainment. A comedian with a strong hold on the heartland of America, she is quickly gaining acclaim across the entire country. She was the 2009 "Comedian of the Year" and is also an inductee of the Visionary Awards Christian Music Hall of Fame.
