In 2010 his role in Finian's Rainbow, was nominated for Drama Desk in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actor.


Jackson’s career in the music industry is also one of the most different and diverse. While working as an actor Jackson also struggled to become a singer in the early part of his career. He worked as a backup singer for pop stars like Liza Minnelli, Vanessa Williams and Heather Headley. His first album The Power of Two was released in 2008. It was an effort with Michael Feinstein which followed from Jackson’s nightclub show titled The Power of Two. This show was essentially a concert where Jackson was to perform with New York Pops as a part of the Cheyenne Jackson 's Cocktail Hour: Music of the Mad Men Era concert.
