Cheap Trick focuses on genres like power pop, rock and hard rock. Current band lineup consists of Robin Zander rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Rick Nielsen backing singer and lead guitar player, Bun Carlos drums and Tom Petersson drums. The interesting thing to note is that most of the band members have been with the group since its debut except for Petersson who left in 1980 and rejoined Cheap Trick in the year 1987. Keyboardist Magic Cristian and drummer Daxx Nielsen are associated with the band as touring musicians. In a career that spans over four decades Cheap Trick has released a whopping seventeen studio, seven live and thirteen studio albums. Amazingly all studio albums of Cheap Trick have managed to enter the US Billboard charts at various positions. Cheap Trick debut album was self-titled that was released in 1977, in fact the same year Cheap Trick released one more studio album by the name of In Color. The debut album entered the US Billboard at #207 whereas In Color landed at #73, it also went platinum in the US and gold in UK. This was followed by two more platinum albums namely Heaven Tonight (1978) and Dream Police (1979). Dream Police till date remains the most selling and highest charting album of Cheap Trick as it landed at #7, #4 and #6 respectively on Australian, Japanese and Billboard charts. This album went platinum in the US and 3x platinum in Canada. In the year 1980, All Shook Up was released by Epic Records and it was not a huge success as the previous one but still managed to chart in the US, Japan and Canada earning a gold certification. All Shook Up was followed another gold certified album One on One that went on sale in music stores in 1982. After this three more albums were released but failed to earn any certification. Lap of Luxury was the tenth studio album of Cheap Trick that came out in 1988 this album till date remains the last platinum certified album by the band. Some other popular albums include Woke Up with a Monster, The Doctor, Special One, Next Position Please, Starting on the Edge and Busted. The latest album of Cheap Trick is named The Latest that was released in the year 2009 this was released under the band’s own label called Cheap Trick Unlimited. Music of Cheap Trick has been used in mainstream movies like Top Gun, Spring Break, Detroit Rock City and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Private Parts and Up The Creek.
