"Guillermo S. de Roxlo", a famous Spanish composer and conductor, along with a team of fifteen talented musicians formed the Symphony Orchestra in 1932. Since then the Orchestra has continuously shaped the music scene in the country and has heavily contributed in collecting and archiving music masterpieces of the past century. Over the years, the Orchestra has employed some of the world's finest conductors and music composers. In 2001, "Christorf Perick" was appointed as the new conductor of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. The renowned conductor managed to take the orchestra to new heights with his expertise and experience. It was during his tenure that the music house released its debut CD collection that comprised of music masterworks by Mozart, Mahler, Schubert and Beethoven. After leading the orchestra for over a decade, Christorf ended his reign in 2010. He was replaced by another legendary music conductor "Christopher Warren Green" as the eleventh music director of the orchestra. Christopher continues to build the legacy of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. He was recently appointed to conduct music at the royal wedding this year. Witnessed by more than two billion individuals, the holy matrimony of "Prince Williams" and "Miss Catherine Middleton" was another milestone event in Christopher's four-decade long music career.
The main orchestra performances are conducted at the Belk Theater. The beautifully constructed theater houses almost two thousand seats and it is a part of the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra also plays as the principal orchestra for the North Carolina Dance Center as well as Opera Carolina. This season the Charlotte Symphony Pops performances will include The "Music of Billy Joel by Michael Cavanaugh", famous band "America" along with "Albert George Schram" as conductor, a tribute to "Benny Goodman" by "Dave Bennett", "Magic of Christmas" as well as "Winter Dance Party: a tribute to Bog Bopper, Ritchie Valens and Buddy Holly".
