Hailing from Minnesota, Charlie Parr is a country and blues musician who came forward in the year 2002. Born in the city Austin, Parr entered the music scene after he drew inspiration from artists such as Revered Gary Davis, Charlie Patton, Dave Van Ronk and Bukka White. Apart from singing, Parr is also an instrumentalist and can play several musical instruments such as a twelve string guitar, an open back banjo and a resonator guitar. Working with massive record labels such as Little Judges, Misplaced Music and Shaky Ray Records, Parr has released nine studio albums, a compilation album, two promotional singles’ CDs and several contributions on albums of other artists.
 
His debut album came forward in the year 2002, which was released through Shaky Ray Records. This album was named “Criminals and Sinners”, after which Parr released a second album in the same year, financing the release himself. This album was called “1922” and the cover song from this album has been used in Vodafone Television advertisements which ran throughout New Zealand and Australia. After this release came “King Earl” in the year 2004 and then “Rooster” in 2005. Several other releases followed in the following years that include “Backslider” a self financed album that came forth in 2006, “Jubilee” released through the Little Judges company, in 2007, “Roustabout” in 2008 through Misplaced Music records, “When the Devil Goes Blind” in 2010 through Nero’s Neptune Records and the most recent one, “Keep Your Hands on the Plow” in the year 2011 via House of Mercy Recordings company. Apart from studio releases, Parr has collaborated with the band, the Black Twig Pickers to release two collaborative CDs, in 2010 and 2011 named “Glory in the Meeting House” and “East Mont Syrup” respectively. With several successful tracks, Parr’s music has been used in “Red Hill”, a drama film that made use of the entire “Just like Today” song, which can be heard during the movie and in the closing credits as well.
 
Over the years, Parr has been invited to perform at several music festivals and concerts, his very first one being in the year 2001 where he was seen playing at the “Down in the Valley: Barn Aid Benefit Concert and then at “Weightless by Bill Isles”. He has also made guest appearances on “The Size of Planets” in the year 2003 with the headlining artist, Haley Bonar. His most recent performances were at the Pickathon Music Festival in 2011 held in Oregon and also at the Willamina’s Wildwood Music Fest and Campout, held in 2012. Several other performances of 2012 include playing songs such as “Rope Strechin’ Blues” and “Turn Your Money Green” at the Mississippi Roll and at Apple in the Ocean where he played “Little Bird”. At these events, Parr has been able to perform with artists such as Mary Bue, Jack Klatt and the Cat Singers, The Black Twig Pickers, Bill Southern and JoAnne James, amongst numerous others.
