Charles Edward Daniels who is better known in the entertainment industry as Charlie Daniels is a musician from the United States of America. He is the leader of his band by the name of Charlie Daniels Band. He was born on the 28th of October in the year of 1936. The band is well known for its innumerably amazing contributions to the southern rock as well as county music. The band is extremely popular for their number one hit country single by the name of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” amongst many other hit singles of theirs. Charlie Daniels has written and composed a number of massive hit singles for his band. Daniels has been an extremely active musician as early as the year of 1950. On the 24th of January in 2008, he was inducted into the famous Grand Ole Opry.
The Charlie Daniels Band’s origins are from Leland in the state of North Carolina in the United States of America. The main musical genres of the band are country rock, southern rock, country, outlaw country and rock. Daniels who is the lead member of the band is a musician as well as a songwriter. The main musical instruments that are utilized by the band are the bass, guitar, vocals and the fiddle. The band has been successfully active since the year of 1950 till the present day. In the year of 1964, he co-wrote the song called “It Hurts Me” with Joy Byers. This song was performed by the legendary Elvis Presley. In the year of 1971, he successfully recorded his first solo album which was known as Charlie Daniels”. This was a purely country music based album and was a huge success.
The first hit single of the Charlie Daniels Band which was deemed as a novelty song was by the name of “Uneasy Rider”. This song was from the second album of the band which was called Honey in the Rock. This album of the band was released in the year of 1973 and successfully went on to reaching the number ninth spot on the famous Billboard Hot 100 list.
On the 18th of October in the year of 2005, the lead member of the Charlie Daniels Band, Daniels was given the prestigious honor as a BMI (Broadcast Music Incorporated) Icon at the BMI Country Award which was being held for the 53rd time. All through his marvelous career with his band, Daniels has received a total of six BMI Country Awards for his exceptional songwriting skills. The first time that he won this prestigious award was in the year of 1976, when he had written the song named “The South’s Gonna Do It Again”.
In the November of the year of 2007, the front lead member of Charlie Daniels Band, Daniels was given an invite by the famous musician Martina McBride to become a part of the Grand Ole Opry. On the 19th of January in 2008, he was successfully inducted at the Ryman Auditorium by Connie Smith and Marty Stuart.
