Hailing from Dallas Texas and born on February 14, 1933, Dr. Charles Webb has dedicated his entire life for the works of music. He had a knack for music from his early ages, and as the years went by he excelled more and more in the field of music. Webb has shown great amount of versatility throughout his career as a musician. Not only is he a highly competent pianist, he is also a renowned composer and a talented conductor. He has played all the roles and duties as musician, in its utmost rightful way.
 
Charles H. Webb studied at the Southern Methodist University from where he obtained his Masters degree in Music. He later went on to earn his PhD in music from the Indiana University, where he taught and worked as a dean of Jacob School of Music. It was in 1958 when Charles H. Webb became a faculty member at the Indiana University, initially as an instructor for piano. After working as an instructor, he later excelled and went up to the designation of Asst. Professor of music in 1964. Almost three years later in 1967 he went on to become an associate professor. Before retiring from his duties in 1997, he became an associate dean in 1969 followed by the position of Dead in 1973, until the day of his retirement.

 
Meanwhile, Charles Webb also took his talents as a pianist out across the nation, as he toured nationwide with other renowned pianists as well. Webb toured with renowned pianist Wallace Hornibrook as a concert organist apart from performing with him in the duo recitals. Webb also led the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir as a conductor from 1967 ill 1981, and before that he also filled the place as an organist in Bloomington for the 1st Methodist Church. Before being awarded the membership of Indiana Academy, Webb also served as a Commissioner for the Indian Arts Commission in 1967.

 
Charles H. Webb possesses versatility when it comes to his talents as a musician. He has earned respect and acclaim in all the fields of music, of which he was a part of. Whether as a pianist, conductor, composer or an instructor, Webb received nothing but appraisals in whichever field he sunk his hands. Apart from being known for being the Dean of School of Music of Indiana University for twenty four years, Dr. Webb has also received global recognition thanks to his works and compositions. It was due this international fame that he chosen as a recipient for Rockefeller Fellowship to Bellagio, Italy, where he studied hymns of all faiths, in 1997. Other awards and honorariums that he earned also include Thomas Hart Benton Medal for Indiana University, Indiana Governor’s Award for the Arts, three Sagamore of the Wabash Awards, and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Southern Methodist University. At Indiana University, he also became a of member of Alliance of Distinguished Professors in 1997.  

 
 
For well over forty five years, Dr. Webb has also performed on numerous piano concertos with his piano partner Wallace Hornibrook. In addition to his role as a dean and an instructor, Dr. Webb has and still continues to enjoy well famed and successful career as a pianist as well. His solo or duo concerts are attended by thousands of piano listeners every year. He has also lent his expertise as a jury member for numerous music competitions like the Munich Competition, Liszt Bartok Competition in Hungary, Chopin Competition in Warsaw, the Carl Flesch Competition in London and a lot more. Dr. Webb also plays his role as the member of advisory board and recommendation board of Van Cliburn Piano Competition and Avery Fisher Prize respectively. For the United Methodist Church, he also held the membership for the Hymnal Revision Committee.
