Though it seems Casey Donahew was born with an innate talent for music, he actually happened to get into the field gradually over a period of time. When he was a young child, the singer’s grandfather gave him a guitar as a present. However it was during his college days that he began to show an interest in writing and composing music. He was hugely inspired by the country music and songwriting of the 80s and 90s. According to him, the songwriters of the time had an enormous ability of being able to tell a story through their notes and lyrics. The country music of the 80s and 90s had a profound impact on him as he found it easy to relate to it. However, when the band came up with their own songs and albums, they were able to bring in a fresh sound to the country music scene. Their musical style is a unique blend of traditional country music and rock ‘n’ roll with a touch of pop.
During Donahew’s days at the University of Texas, he travelled around and got to witness a number of concerts by Pat, Randy Rogers, Cross Canadian Ragweed and many others who were popular among the country music lovers of the time. It was at this time that Donahew began his musical journey with a regular acoustic gig at the Fort Worth bar called Thirsty Armadillo. Here he presented a variety of songs that he had been writing since his high school days.
Within a short time, Donahew made a mark for himself in the small club circuit and began performing for rather large audiences at bigger venues. He released his first album "Lost Days" in 2006. The album consists of an autobiographical number called "Stockyards." The song’s lyrics belong to the time when he played at the bar in north Fort Worth’s Stockyards area. The number became an instant hit not only in his home city but also among people who had never been to Texas.
Donahew’s wife Melinda served as his manager and helped him work his way up during the time he was performing at clubs and bars. The Casey Donahew Band made a name for themselves without the support of any famous record label or management company. The credit of their success goes to their enthralling live shows, social media and word of mouth.
Casey Donahew started touring in 2005, and since then there has been no looking back for the country singer and his band. They have given a number of performances at events like The Ranch Texas Music Series, Pro Rodeo Events, The Cowtown Ball and many others. The band signed a contract with KB Talent in the April of 2006 and since then has been playing to packed houses across Texas and the Midwest. Although their music has earned recognition outside Texas, the band remains true to their roots and term their music as pure Texas country.
Slowly and steadily, the Burleson native has made a place for himself in the country music landscape. From his college days to his regular gigs at the bar to topping the Texas music charts, Casey Donahew has come a long way. Today his live performances attract thousands of fans from all over. His latest album "Double Wide Dream" has opened new horizons for the singer who once performed at the small Armadillo stage.
Casey Donahew is well aware of the expectations of his fans. During his concerts, he blends and performs a variety of genres, making the audience enjoy a bit of everything from country music to rock n roll to pop and even soft numbers. So grab your Casey Donahew tickets and get ready for one of the most entertaining nights of music that you have ever witnessed.
