His spectacular performances resulted in Carlos Mencia receiving the cherished title of International Comedy Grand Champion. By this time, Carlos Mencia was a well known name in the world of comedy and many people flocked to see his performances with millions more watching the shows on which he appeared.
By 1994, Carlos Mencia was a household name in the world of comedy. He soon attracted the attention of HBO and was hired as the host of the comedy show, Loco Slam on HBO. This was a very successful show and it soon led to yet another show, Funny is Funny! on the Galavision TV show. But despite being the host of two TV shows, Carlos Mencia still toured regularly and performed at many places. He toured with the likes of Pablo Francisco and Freddy Soto on a tour titled as The Three Amigos. Aside from regular shows, this famous comedian also had his very own specials on HBO, which led him to receive the acclaimed CableACE Award.
By the new millennium, Carlos Mencia had signed up with the record label Warner Records. and released his first album, Take A Joke America, which was very popular. This was then followed by hit performances on the Comedy Central Presents series in 2002 as well as several as appearing as the guest on The Shield and Moesha. He even started acting with roles on the hit movie, Outta Time as well as a role on the movie, The Proud Family. By 2005, Carlos Mencia was riding the waves of fame and began hosting his own show on Comedy Central, Mind of Mencia. This show ran for three whole years and was a big hit ranking second on Comedy Central’s most popular shows.
