Candlebox was formed in 1990 and ever since it has released five studio albums which attained multi-Platinum and Gold certifications. The talented Adam Kury on bass, Peter Klett on guitar, Sean Hennesy on rhythm guitar, Scott Mercado on drums and Kevin Martin on vocals make up this phenomenal band. The talent of all these members combined gets thousands of people rocking to their beats. Almost all the albums of Candlebox include chart-topping singles. Their first studio self-titled record was released in July 1993 and gained vast popularity. Some top singles like 'You' and 'Far Behind' by the band come from this album. The album was declared Platinum by the RIAA four times in a row. Their subsequent two albums, ‘Lucy’ and ‘Happy Pills’ were also well acclaimed.
‘Happy Pills’, produced by the famous Ron Nevison, is one of their best released albums. The catchy tunes, with a faintly traditional and classic rock edge, were well received by most rock music lovers. The tunes of their albums are usually split in three categories; heart wrenching tunes like, ‘It’s Alright’, melodic hard rock tracks like the ‘10,000 Horses’ as well as bluesy songs such as ‘Look What You’ve Done’. This diversity is always well acclaimed by the supporters of the band who get to listen to different kinds of music, catering to all sorts of moods. Their extraordinary and unique music style, primarily centered on hard rock, has also derived influences from many other genres of music. For instance many of their songs have strong references to blues, rock and sometimes even glam metal. Although they take classic roots into account while composing songs, but their music is certainly considered modern and liked by a variety of music lovers.
Candlebox has been lucky enough to tour with some of the best bands to date, such as Living Color, Rush, Aerosmith and Metallica. Touring with such famous bands has certainly allowed them to learn a lot. Perhaps, one of their biggest breakthroughs came from being featured on the main-stage at Woodstock '94 and their repeated appearances on 'Late Show with David Letterman'. These gave them vast exposure and fame amongst their fans. With so much media coverage, the band gained a huge following that remains intact.
Like their singing, their performances too are matchless. With vibrant stage presence and outrageous acts, the band has successfully pulled off many stunts to entertain their audiences. Their unique blend of music takes the listeners back to the decade of classic rock and rapidly bring them back to the music of modern times. Needless to say, this is certainly an experience worth experiencing!
