The single from the album Anytime, You Should Be Mine entered the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 20. The album was nominated for the Grammies and made big wavesand as it reached record sales soaring over two million.
Brian ended trip with Mercury and contracted with Motown Records l in 1998 and released Bethlehem, Brian’s first Christmas album. In 1999, his album Back at One with reached the Top 10 of the Hot 100 Charts. Next album in pipeline was an exploratory venture, Superhero (2001); the album featured great tracks with famous pop and rap artists. It turned out to be an interesting mix of contemporary R&B /rap track fueled with the energy of soft rock. U Turn came in 2003; it was a deviant from Brian’s R&B with melodious ballads and soft track. Two years later his album Gemini (2005) stirred up a mild controversy for overt and explicit songwriting. Warner Bros. became the next label for McKnight when it released his album Ten (2007). Brian kept engaged in collaborations and self-production while producing for Warner. His second vacation album I'll Be Home for Christmas (2008) was as popular as the first one. In 2009 Evolution of a Man manifested as a commendable collection of his inspirational solo tracks. Just Me (2011), is his latest release, presented a collection of Brian’s live songs.
