Brett Dennen was born in Oakdale, California in 1979 and he attended Kresge College from 2000 till 2004. His self-titled first album was released in 2004 followed by his second album So Much More, this album included some of his very good singles "Darlin Do Not Fear", "Ain’t No Reason" and "She’s Mine". Brett Dennen’s music has been featured on many television shows such as Scrubs episode "My No Good Reason", Grey’s Anatomy, in one episode of House "Family", Roadtrip Nation on PBS and The Unit episode "Freefall". Dennen has also appeared on TV shows such as the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and lastly on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on which he came shoeless.
Dennen has also sold his music for advertising campaigns of different companies like Hilton Hotels and one of his song "Heaven" was used in Tap Tap Revenge which is an application of iPod and iPhone. Dane has also performed and toured with many famous artists like Dave Mathews, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Peter Murray and John Mayer. Dennen has worked as a part of the famous The Mosaic Project which is a non-profit organization working to unite young children with diverse talents and backgrounds to work for a peaceful future. For this project in 2003 Dennen created an original musical program curriculum which was released as an album and was named Children’s Songs for Peace and a Better World.
In his debut year, Dennen was with Downtown Records but since 2005 he has been under contract of Dualtone Records, but now he is working on getting signed again with Downtown through partnership of his current label. One of Dennen’s song "Long Road to Forgiveness" in collaboration with Jason Mraz was included in the charity album Songs for Survival that was made by Survival International. Brett Dennen has attended many music festivals such as the Mile High Music Festival held in Colorado, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Rothbury Music Festival in Michigan and Lyons Folk Festival. Hope for the Hopeless was his third album and one song from it called "Ain’t Gonna Loose You" topped the iTunes folk charts and was featured on Grey’s Anatomy.
Dennen was included in Entertainment Weekly list of eight called "Guys on the Rise" and Rolling Stone named him as an "Artist to Watch". In 2009, Brett Dennen attended Newport Folk Festival in Newport in Rhode Island and he performed a few songs on the waterside in front of a small crowd, the songs he sung were "Heaven", "Wrong About Me", "When You Feel It" and "Who Do You Think". Brett’s song "Aint’ Going to Lose You" was also used an episode of Ugly Betty’s closing sequence in 2009 and he was one of the main lyricist for Crosby Loggins solo debut release.
